ung, I just tried to play this game today, so far I am not happy with it, granted I like the realism that went into the game, the need for a tank crew, ...
How ever, I dont like the fact that when I walk it feels like I am wading through waist deep mud.
The round is over before I get a shot off.

when you have a bolt action rifle, you have to left click to reload the gun after every shot. it doesn't recock the gun for you. that kind of threw me off at 1st, because I was used to the game auto recocking the gun after each shot.

I've been playing the old RO for some time and just bought ost front, and I love it!! It has to be one of the more realistic FPS available. I'm sure the slower pace of the game (compared with COD, DOD, etc.) will not be for everybody. As Mills pointed out the controls are a little clunky at times but I think the running and throwing is far more realistic than most games. As Airsofters we know what it's like to run and jump when loaded with all your gear.

I have to agree 100%! If some of you guyz are coming from CoD and DoD you need remeber this isnt an arcade style FPS game its based on realism and in real life you have to bolt your rifle . I know it can be hard at first and it takes some getting used to BUT PLZ stick with you will find it a hell of alot more rewarding when you start killing ppl and capping things than say DoD and CoD. Mills: As much as I want to support my WW2AA comrades, I think the speeds are fine. If you spectate you see people running around at a fairly realistic pace. So far I am realy liking RO Ost-front, I still like COD (and other WWII games) but I like that this one is different.
I did see some others agree with you on the RO board. But most people like it the way it is. Don't let the negative posts get to you, Some people are just jerks.

lol
slower is better, in my opinion.
COD is roughly 3 or 4 times the speed of real humans, like i said its hard to aim when your laughing at the bunny hopping madnes.

I will tell you what.........
This game is worth the $25 bucks for the Tanks and tank battles alone!!
I can't hit squat with a rifle, and I refuse to try to turn the game into a 'spray -n- pray' fest with an automatic......
But teh armor am teh secseh!!!!!!! ok..sorry for the uber language there...
the tanks ROCK!!!
Seeing the red hot round scream across the map and find its target, hearing the 'clang' as a HE round ricochets off my Panther's angled hull, hearing the screams as another poor commie succumbs to my Tiger's 88......ahhh the joy.....The JOY!!!
Can you jump into a vehicle and tear off across the wilderness and wreak havok like CoD UO? well...not so much...but believe me that is a good thing!
Look at it this way, here's an analogy for you that you should be able to relate to-
Most WWII video games are like 'backyard Airsoft'- little or no preparation is necessary and guys show up in jeans and sweatshirts with any variety of weapons- right? You just jump in the game and start fragging, running around like a madman- it just happens to be a WWII themed title- DoD, CoD, etc-
Well think of RO like a WW2AA "Airsoft Reenactor" game- People take the time to dress in correct impressions, using WWII weapons and gear. It takes time and effort to either advance to the front line, or maneuver your vehicle to assault the enemy- you can't drive and shoot at the same time, you need assistance- very real and immersive once you get into it and also very rewarding when you get in some practice and are actually surviving for more than a couple of minutes!
I would like to add this game to our "Saturday Night Fights" WW2AA league!!

my controls are now jacked somehow......... as infantry when I join a game anywhere, my view point slowly tilts up til I'm looking directly up at the sky, I have reset all my controsl to default, changed the batteries in my wireless mouse......... pissing me off-ski! anyone else seen this? the last time I played a week or so ago everything was fine. -G

this is the point of the game, so far as I see.
Get in a tank and drive it to a good firing positon, turn the turret back toward your spawnpoint and gun down the endles streem of bots who want to jump in and drive your tank. Occasionaly scan for enemy tanks, but keep those fellow crewmen away at all costs.
If they make it, you need to bail out fast because the gun becomes useless as soon as they are in the driver seat.
once outside the tank follow it as it starts and stops , starts and stops, until it hits a tree or rock, inwhich the driver will bail out.
Gun him down, get back in, drive the tank back to your position, and repeat.
No wonder ww2 took so long to win.
I kill bots until i get bored or booted. -Gordak

thats why we need to play together- I haven't had the bot issue on most public servers I've played- I think you can turn that feature off? Actually I have had the same trouble with the real human players though lol If we can find a server and join up together and man the same tank, I think you will enjoy it alot more- I'm an excellent driver, so I will be happy to drive the tank and help you set up the shots- let's do it! well.....as soon as I figure out my controls issue

one of the fun aspects of playing RO is the European community. If you get online around 4-5pm Eastern time, you'll get a some Brits, French, and few others in the mix. i've occasionally run into some germans. I can't tell you how cool it was listening to them talk in german while playing the axis forces. Words like "nein" and "schiza" (excuse my bad spelling) were being thrown all over the place. It really added to the authenticity.
