Great Tv Show. Especially if you like older war movies or tv shows. -Nick

It's not a bad show, especially the early seasons. But I can't imagine anyone in a modern audience (or someone who's grown up on Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan) would find it all that great. I bought the first DVD set, watched them all, then put them back in the case and suddenly realized I couldn't imagine ever watching it again. So I sold it at a gun show the following week and haven't regretted it at all. My understanding is that most of the DVD sets have been sold to folks who watched the show as kids, mostly people in their 40s or 50s. I saw re-runs of the show as a kid but even then I got tired of them attacking the SAME European town, over and over again! RENT them if you can. They are fun to watch but you might find that you won't watch them more than once, either!

I can't ever watch "Combat" without having to think about the fate of Vic Morrow, the horrible way he died and all

I had the misfortune of once seeing the tape of the crash itself, a guy who collected sick crap like that somehow got the unedited film they shot. They got good, close film as it happened. The Huney landed next to Morrow and the two kids, rolled over, and...
...what I saw afterward, I wish I could un-see.
Trust me, he never knew what hit him.

Buy COMBAT! its a good TV Show very realistic like able charactors. They did use the same towns over and over again but they also shot on different locations sometimes in France. The music is really good too. Vic Morrow had a horrible death but did you hear on how Rick Jason died he took his own life.

They shared the "Village' with the show "Man from U.N.C.L.E" , the crew from UNCLE would build the set , shoot there for a week and then the Combat crew would come in and blow up the set the next week, the vineyard were they shot some episodes is still there and if you ever get a chance to go see it do so , they give tours and show you tons of pics from when it was used in the show , also the road with the Eucalyptus on the sides is still there , only one side has a row of them today , the other side was developed and there are houses on that site.

P51 and myself have talked once or twice about doing a couple of TV and movie set ups for the hell of it , and Combat is probably the first thing in both our heads.

I grew up with my dad telling me about the series as he watched it as a child, and now at 16 I enjoy it. You just have to look past any inaccuracies that come up. The stories are what makes it a good show, especially the famous two-part episode "Hills are for Heroes". (Great ending, but sad) Nick

Hills are for Heroes was a great episode , and it was the first episode directed by Vic Morrows , i love the way the episode starts , a shot of the skyline and slowly you see the helmets of the squad come into the screen.

That's one of the episodes I remember the most from watching it when I was a kid because I remember the slow motion POV scenes from the guy who'se life is slowly ebbing away. I saw that episode again recently on TV and I'll admit some of the emotional impact has waned since I've already seen so many battle scenes on TV and in movies in the 30 years since I saw it for the first time when I was a boy.

I myself am from the "SPR/BOB" generation, and it still had an emotional impact on me when the first man is shot, screams, and rolls down the hill. That episode was really the high point in the series, and it showed how dedicated Morrow was to the show, having going way over budget and time allotted.

I got the series some time ago, so far so good, but there is one thing that bothering me, and thats the 1917 MG that it apears the germans use, I get why thet tanks are wrong as no one surived the war, but I mean how had would it be to get a M42 or even a MG3, half of europe used MG42/MG3 after the war. and the weired thing is that they acutaly had a MG42 in the first episode, it's just after that they started to use the watercooled MG

In season 1 you'll see a lot of watercooled machine guns and some 30cals and MG42's. After season 1 you'll mainly see MG42's. I think they rented there machine guns and B.A.R's for each episode. Therefore it varies from episode to episode. Hope that helps.

Saunders doesn't wear 36 suspenders, he usually just wears his pistol belt with or without a haversack.
