When it comes to vets most of us (certainly everyone of them that I have talked to) are extremely unconcerned about the minute detail of every little piece of gear, uniforms or weaponry. At the time we were far too busy with other things to pay much attention to the subtle changes in the gear and certainly didn't know the nomenclature unless we were a supply specialists. Web gear was just web gear and a Field jacket was just a field jacket. Glaring mistakes or obviously someone who just doesn't care (long hair, hands in their pockets, calling officers sgt or worse yet, saying sir to an NCO. Poor or sloppy handling of weapons. Littering or walking past trash without piking it up.) These things are noticed but not the wrong shade of khaki or late war suspenders. Get it right for yourself and your fellow hobbyists because the vets probably won't even notice the anal silly stuff. When you display something worn in a certain way or that they haven't seen in decades and it brings back PLEASANT memories it is much appreciated. The main thing is have fun and be active in the hobby. Go to events rather than avoiding them until you achieve "perfect" as there is no such thing.

Seasons Greetings everyone, I probably should have posted here by now to introduce myself cause I have been posting on the forum on other topics for about a month. So, hello, it is awesome to meet you all and be a part of such a interesting group of people. I look forward to meeting you all at events in the North East or mid Atlantic region. Reenacting WW2 and airsoft is new to me, but I have been a French and Indian war and Rev war reenactor for years. I live in northern NY in Essex, the area where much of the fighting between great world powers of the 18th century occurred. I have for a long time wanted to get into WW2 Reenacting but held back, until now, until Discovering WW2 airsoft. What I have always had a problem with in BF is the tactical part. It was always predetermined who would win any engagement before the battle started(and the dreaded after battle musket cleaning) At least it is such for 18th century events. It is a show for the public which is great, people love to see the ranks of soldiers and clouds of smoke, it is a display of the epic struggle that once took place on the battle fields of Europe and north America. I don't mean to take away from these reenactors they take great care to be authentic with their uniforms, tactics, and camp life. And I would recommend this kind of Reenacting to anyone as it is a good time with a bunch of really great people. But what I like about airsoft tactical play is the uncertain outcome of any event. And the ability to really engage the opposing force and take casualties. Since I have joined this forum you guys have been very helpful and encouraging to me, so I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for being so positive and happy to share info. Looking forward to fighting many great battles by your sides. Cheers, and happy holidays, Jer P.S. I hope Santa gets you all the toy you want!

When folks get reasonably close with their kit they shouldn't let a few holes keep them from attending an event since invariably there are folks in attendance who could (and would) happily loan the items that are absent. People seem to find all kinds of reaons not to attend events but the simple fact is this website is WW2 Airsoft, it isn't WW2 look cool in pictures in your back yard or www.seethegearonmybed.com. For this hobby to be a true hobby, people need to attend and host events!

It becomes something of an obsession after a while doesn't it... I'm just ecstatic that we have a great selection of guns now! When I first started out with the Thompson about 6 years ago, that's about all there was. Now it is hard to keep up with all of the new and exciting releases!

Welcome to the forum. Do you currently have a primary weapon? And what part of the country are you from, I assume east coast? Yes, I use a king arms thompson and kjw 1911 (the ww2 model of course). I plan to acquire a carbine or garand in the future.. Northeast is correct. Mike, you should go to the Northeast game being held in Perth NY next weekend on the 18th and 19th for the Battle of the Bulge. There should be extra stuff there if you need it. Im new here too, and this will be my first game and I really looking forward to it. This is such a good group of guys, and very helpful. Been getting my stuff together and Im all set for battle, doing a Fallschirmjager impression. Welcome!

Hello to all. My name is Hayden, and I love history, especially that which deals with the Second World War. I have played airsoft casually for about three years and know my way around the guns and such, and have finally decided to get a job and look at WWII stuff. My main inspiration was my great-grandfather, who served in the war in the XVIII Airborne Corps-54th Signal Battalion. He started the war as a captain, ended it as a lieutenant colonel, and has his colonel wings on the army jacket hanging in my closet. The jacket also has other patches and markings that I would like to know about in the future. I also have his footlocker, which contains a captured Nazi flag and arm band. I know nothing about him beyond those facts after hours of research, and I still continue my investigation. I am an utter scrub in the way of my uniform, as I have no appropriate gear to speak of. My only weapon is my 100th Anniversary m1911a1, which seems close enough to be considered an accurate weapon. I am going for either a paratrooper loadout that imitates my grandfather's or at least a standard set of grunt gear. I can post pictures of the jacket to ID the patches at a later date, and would love a response from someone smarter than I am. Sorry for the text wall, just trying to get myself out there, Badger

Hey guy's, New to the board, you can just call me Yearwood, or Corporal. Call me Ser Yearwood though, and we'll have issues. I work for a living after all.
As the handle says, I'm particularly interested in playing out Dog Company, 3rd Batt, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Division. 3/47 was my BCT Unit, and now that it's been totally deactivated, I'm again drawn to it.
In Southern PA right now, but I also haunt North Georgia occasionally.

Welcome to the forum! Seeing as you are from south PA, if you can make it up to some events in NY, despite the amount of kit you have at the time, we have plenty of loaner gear and guns to fully equip you if need be. If you need any help building your kit in the meantime, don't hesitate to ask!

Indeed. For anyone interested in participating in an event. Most of the hardcore folks have more than one impression and lots of spare gear so typically if you arrange things before hand typically you can borrow everything you might need to give the hobby a try. Don't ever hesitate to ask.

Sorry for the delay in posting an intro. Sometimes, sadly, real life uber alles.
Name: Erik (Americanized version)
Age: Old. Well, not as old as Top 2nd Bat, but old enough.
Location: Ithaca, New York (via Gulfport, MS and the DDR).
Occupation: Retired USN, Dispatcher
Impressions: I do a credible Shatner. With regards to WWII impressions, nothing completed, however I have 97% of my RKKA NKVD, 99% of RKKA Motor Rifle Guards, 91% USMC 1944, and a few others. Outside WWII? Yes, I have a full suit of USCM body armor from the movie "Aliens", as well as appropriate weaponry.
Weapons: Limiting myself to only listing my WWII airsoft weaponry, I have many custom build one-off weapons. I have a stock Cybergun M1A1 Thompson, as well as a re-cut custom M1928 Thompson. I have a Hudson M3A1 "grease gun" that I am currently adapting to green gas use. I have a Tokyo Marui M1911A1 .45ACP pistol. I have built an MG42 using real steel parts from a demilled M3 machine gun. I have built most of a Suomi M31 using a mix of real steel and parts from an AGM Sten Mk.II (I hated the feel of the crap handle/stock of the Sten, and came into a nice stock). I have the body completed and will Parkerize this weekend my Browning M1919A4, hand-made from stainless steel plates, and have the internals (CA M14) ready for install. I have the full suite of P.08 pistols (4" Army, 6" Navy, 8" Artillery) all by Tanaka. I have re-purposed my DBoys Kar98 springer into a interwar years civilian model (for Partizan use) with the appropriate real-steel bits. I built my first (and favorite) WWII custom five years ago, my Mosin Nagant M91/30 PU, built from scratch and real-steel. 600FPS and almost 300' effective range (within a foot of aimpoint using .30g). Um...StG44, MP40, under-construction Bergen, PPSh-41, under-construction PPS-43, TT-33, Nagant 1895 Revolver...what else...um, I honestly forget. I have almost 80 total units in my armory.
Other Hobbies: Other than playing with/annoying my children, and spending entirely too much time and money on gun replica projects? Um...I read a lot? Oh, and my real steel shooting/collecting, obviously.
I love to work with my hands. My mobility is in the applesauce ter ever since my knee surgery a few years ago, so I don't run-and-gun anymore. I do manage to get out and airsoft occasionally, however as I get older (and as my kids get older and want to play with), I find that I can most easily man static defensive positions with my big toys (Airsoft Mortars, LMG/HMGs), and my 20-year-old daughter has no gripes being my ammo bearer and assistant gunner.
My one regret in airsoft...every damned time I finish one of my "hey, no one else has one of these!" airsoft projects, some asshat company comes out with the replica at a fraction of what I paid in real steel/custom cut parts and finishing. I'd like to find the rat bastard that decided to release a $500 MG42, and shoot them in the scrotum with my CAW grenade revolver. Six times. Rapidly.

Welcome, mentos! Fresh goes better! There is a growing WWII airsoft community in the North East, with games recently centered around upstate NY around Albany, but hopefully expanding out from there. We hope you'll become part of it. It sounds like you have a large and versatile collection of weapons-- my kind of guy! I like the fact that you have Soviet impressions, I'd love to see things expand into Eastern Front games. Do you have a German impression? If you do, or would consider one, you would be most welcome in our unit, Heeresgruppe Nord-Ost. We are very welcoming (of just about everything but Nazi ideology, that we can do without), and have authenticity standards that are strong but not crazy. You certainly have the weaponry for it! If interested, or even just curious as to what we're about, feel free to PM me or Jerry-ADK (or both of us). We'd love to hear from you. Thanks for the intro, I'd love to hear more about your DDR connection... have a great NVA impression that I've never fielded, including a folding-stock AK that has been set up with East German furniture. Anyway, all the best!

Wow! I'm speechless! Thats quite a gun collection to be proud of! Welcome to WW2AA! As Insterburger has said, we have a strong community here in the NE that is getting bigger by the month. But what we need here is more German impressions on the field to make the games balanced. If you have any interest in fielding as Heer, Luftwaffe or SS, definitely give me or him a PM we would love to have you fight with us. We have a game coming up in a few weeks near Albany. Anyway, it will be nice to meet you someday, I live up near Plattsburgh NY.

I had thoughts towards a Heer loadout, however at my size I've had very little in the way of luck with uniforms (though I've got a pile of field gear appropriate for the Kurland battles). Was thinking of getting another PPSh-41 and making the appropriate changes for German capture weapons. Main thing stopping me is the uniforms, that and the fact that my Maruzen P38 broke, and the P08 was in the process of being phased completely out by that point, because of it's reliance of high-quality ammunition.
Best part about my NKVD work is, I get to shoot wreckers and counterrevolutionaries in the back if they dare defy our Glorious Comrade Stalin's order. NOT ONE STEP BACKWARDS!

You really don't need a handgun unless your either an officer, MG gunner, or squad leader being the most common roles to carry them.

As to size..."gorilla" is a good start. 54" chest, 48" waist, 15EEEE boot, 2xl or larger gloves.
