This is a prop that Hellmutt and I built for our upcoming Carentan game (see west coast discussion board). We built this in two days work, As most of you know I usually strive for a higher level of authenticity but we where on a limited time frame and I think for what it is I am proud of what we created in such a short time. It does not function, it's just a giant prop. We may make it functional in the future but Hellmutt has some very clever ideas about how it will be used in games as it is, I can't say what (don't want to spill the beans ). The wheels came from harbour freight tools. They are meant to be garden art. They look a bit wagonish but they are the correct diameter and early pak40's do have spoked wheels. What do you guys think? Schmitty

Very nicely done. Positioned with camo around it it will look very authentic. It will make a cool video to simulate it being deployed or moved around by German clad troops. (The movie Stalingrad) It needs some "Kill" rings on the barrel. What is the unit designation? Great job on the paint and aging effects. I especially like the cleverly authentic shin armor.

So for the price of an AEG you end up with an awesome prop with endless possibilities for scenarios. I undersatnd it is quite light can be dissassembled for storage and transport and when assembled can actually be towed. Very very cool.
A Sherman or two are going to have to be next.

I wonder if any of those 'Inflatable Tanks' and vehicles they used in England before D-Day to fool the Germans survived the war.

I've often wondered that myself. Or the Sherman shells mounted on VW's used in the movie A bridge Too Far.

So I say we work on getting a Jeep here first Chris, then worry about the Armour....besides...1 Sherman isn't going to stand a chance against CDs tiger....

In a bridge too far many of the vehicles were real but 2/3rds of the Shermans were fiberglass shells on VWs. The movie was made before computer animations allowed replication so much of what you see is true 3 dimensional stuff. If you look closely you'll see that in some of the distant vehicles the vehicles are moving but the tracks are not. I saw coverage on all this in a special behind the scenes coverage of the film. I want a couple of them!!!!! They built I think a dozen fake Shermans as well as fake sheet metal on some of the german stuff shot up on the bridge.

He lives in the Pacific Northwest- you know, a 'rainforest'
That part of the world boasts one of the largest temperate humidity areas left on the planet. Basically from Humbolt Co. California north to Puget Sound it's green.

We are spoiled here in the NW with our lush forests and dense vegitation. Perfect terrain for airsoft where engagement ranges need to be fairly close. It's rare you see people clearly that aren't in range.
Typically to find an area this lush (Hawaii, Panama, Vietnam) you end up having to endure humidity or high heat (or both) Here it seldom gets above the high 70s or below 40 degrees. We've had airsoft players come up from california for big games and they just can't believe the terrain and beauty of the woods.
I agree with them.

You'll be in for a suprise when you make it out to Colorado, while theres plenty of forests where we might be playing, almost everyone usesd upgraded weapons so they can reach out and touch each other, typically we fight at the maxium ranges of the weapons

And yeah- don't forget the desert....and brown grass....and oh yeah dirt cuz,....we have enough 'transplants' thank you very much- I mean if we told you guys what it is really like here, then you probably all want to move here like all them Kalifornians did back in the 90's, and well......we had to kill 'em -G

Since you live in oregon you really should make a pouint to come up the Carentan game this coming weekend. It will probably be the largest reasonably pure WW2 airsoft game held. I'm guessing there will be 40 to 50 players. Certainly 40. The uniforms and weapons won't be perfect but they'll be pretty darn close.
