Well we didn't see any WWII airsofters in Antigo this past weekend and that's too bad. We had such a good time. We fell in with the GD Division of Wisconsin reenactors for the Saturday festivities. The gun show was a success as I found a much needed lower band for my latest project. There were about 100 reenactors there but it was mainly a WWII themed show with Germans, Americans and Russians present. The reenacting included lots of small arms fire, pyrotechnics, a restored Sherman tank and a scratch built BA-64 Russian Armored car. There was also a German MC and American Jeeps present. The Germans had a working Panzerschrek and a small 2.8Cm Anti-tank gun to boot. Sorry, we have videos including a cool shot of Franz taking a head first into a foxhole but they haven't been sent to me yet. I did have some pics we took to show you. The reenactor guys were very friendly and we just enjoyed ourselves alot. Got a couple of invites for later this year. Pretty good crowd turnout and several times during the day we were thanked by parents and attendees for supplementing their kids history education. Otto takes a Sheman single-handedly in close assault. It looks like this tank won't be adding any more kill rings. I was in my stocking feet to keep from scratching the paint. Taking a prisoner. This guy was a good-natured Vietnam Veteran. Franz again with lots of continuity errors. Can you spot them? My friends at the Oshkosh Veterans group let me leave the building with their Shoei model. Must be my honest looks. Franz shows that he has a friendly side. Well... I'll post video when I get it.

Great pictures Otto. But telling us about your stocking feet really takes the wind out of the sails of your Sherman picture. That's like when I found out that Grand Moff Tarkin walked around in his socks while the Death Star was unmercifully blowing up shiot in Star Wars...a major let down. I just hope they were period socks and not Lil' booties with the balls on the heel. ;D

The event was really nice and although it was somewhat warm, the people were cool. During the battle the germans were defending as the Americans pushed a Sherman and a Weasel across the battle field. When things got too hot I bugged out and was running when some rotten G.I. shot me in the back. I arched and then fell --- head over some sandbags and into a foxhole. I was prone with my right leg and boot extending upward over the sandbags. I was content to lay like that for awhile until the Sherman got close (twenty yards) Sorry, I couldn't stay dead anymore and had to arch up and look where it was. The ground was shaking and the noise from the gas guns was pretty loud so I had to know where it was. I didn't want it to roll over me. Laying on the ground and not being able to see something like that as it lumbers twenty yards from you isn't the most comfortable feeling in the world. After my death I was attended to by an American medic who simply stood my rifle up, tilted my helmet and moved on. Then, another American jumped in the hole with me and administered last rites wearing his chaplain uniform. It was awesome as I didn't expect it. About 600 people watched the battle from the grandstand and the day was really enjoyable. See some of you guys there next year.

I was reenacting at that event, and chances are, I was that rotten GI that shot you in that back. I did a few weapons demos with My Garand, a BAR, and a Sten gun. During the reenactment, I was our BAR gunner's ammo carrier, and I got to shoot it a bit. (Heavy as hell.) That was a great event, and I will be there next year.
At The Front was there, and I did a little shopping with some of the other venders.

I have been wanting to to have a German Uniform for a while. And I'm willing to spend. But Alas, I was there with the 401st Glider Infantry. Why the heck not, I need more trigger time.
