The Marushin M1 Garand is a beautiful Airsoft gun, but its a high maintenance dame, so I feel that its a good idea to have a Garand/gas gun section so we can share all of our garand/gas gun information and keep our weapons in tip top shape. Carry on Men, Sarge.

I have noticed that gas guns need frequent tighting to stay in firing order. I would also highly recommend to put together a field cleaning and tool kit consisting of Lube and various hex keys wrenches and a Good cleaning cloth that is only used for your guns, also always keep the gun manuals with you never know when you need to make a quick field repair, my kit I put toghether has saved my skin at many a event and I always bring extra so if you see me on the field feel free to ask. I love Gas guns they add alot of realism, the blow back and usually louder sound, even with all the extra work involved in gas airsoft weapons worth it. The Western arms 1911 is the best gas airsoft pistol I have ever used, I would higly recommend as a first gas gun if you are green to gas guns. One of the few set backs with gas weapons is they dont work well in colder weather.

The Garand takes alot of care, and alot of time to get used to your particular weapons "habits". In my case, I cannot over or under lube the weapon as it with then malfunction, and the gas valve will be held open and run me outta gas when I need it the most. Other things with the Garand that I've noticed is that where the hammer hits the "pins" this area can tend to become slightly damaged, Nothing a good job with some bondo or JB weld won't fit, but I also recommend doing this before it becomes an issue for you (I'll post some pictured when I get a new CF2 card, mine stopped working).

Hello Men, Has anyone noticed that your Garand Seems very loose and wiggely? Recently I took apart the my rifle and noticed that the inner barrel is loose and simply needs to be screwed in. Ill be posting pics and a more thechnical guide on this matter on how to do this on out website. My rifle is much more solid now and balanced now, Its defenitly worth it to check. Carry on men, Sarge

Its something I look at with Gas weapons, and even AEGs to a point, that you need to learn how to break it down, clean, and repair when necessary, just like real steel. There is a reason the military teachs you to do such things. Anyway, its not THAT complicated, just create a type of list of the parts, lay them out, and then put them back in the exact reverse, and you'll be good.

I think my Garand's part 45 broke... at least I think it's the part 45. I fired a few shots today (HFC 134a) and the breach stayed open after the last shot, which was cool because I thought the cocking handle locked back as expected... but it turned out that the handle was forward but the cover stayed back. A part that's underneath the breach cover and is hooked to the cocking handle from the inside broke off. Is this the part 45? It sure looks like it from the diagram. I checked WGC shop and the part 45 shown indeed looks like what broke in my M1. Bummer. If it's going to break using 134a anyway, I might as well buy a few of these part 45's and use green gas. Question: Is the replacement Part 45 mdae of stronger metal than the original? Thanks.

I think it is....Its odd, because there seems to be 2 batchs of Garands out there...those with weak part #45, and then ones with strong ones.....I've been shooting with Green Gas for the better part of 4-5 months...and haven't had any issues. Also, if your going to use Green Gas, know the Muzzle velocity, when compared to a .2g bb is approx. 600-650+FPS!! That won't be allowed in most groups.

You're right, it won't be allowed in my group. Maybe I'll get a can of green gas just for plinking.

Oh, also to add the mussle power is just above 4 joules too....so theres alot of force behind the bb.

My part 45 arrived today. I wasn't just part 45, it came with all the other parts that are attached to it including the cover. I haven't spent much time figuring it out yet but how do I replace the broken one in my rifle? Do I have to remove anything in order to take the broken part out and put the new one in? Thanks.
EDIt: Should I start a new thread in Technical for this?

Thanks Gordak for posting the tutorial. After much difficulty I was able to replace the Part 45. However I'm so near yet so far away. There's a silver doohickey inside the receiver that's opposite of the latch that you push to lock the bolt. I think it got dislodged from its retaining spring and now hangs limply inside the receiver, preventing the clip from loading. Oh well... I'm taking it apart again. Thanks for the tutorial. It helped a lot.

There is a screw holding it in place. When that screw gets loose it eventually falls off. The screw should be somewhere in your gun. Find it, then take off the grey parts on left side of your receiver, and locktite the screw back on (You can see a triangulated shaped black part sticking out, with a hole in it, and u shuld see the bolt safety with a hole thru it too, pretty obvious where to put the screw Remember that the leaf spring must be on top of the second grey part, and that it must be in the track u can see on the opposite side of the last and biggest grey part. Sincerely Yours Red Von Hammer
