Garand AEG - G&G M14 Trigger mod
There were 3 generations of G&G M14's.
Gen 1 - Plastic bushings, no fuse.
Gen 2 - Plastic bushings, fuse.
Gen 3 - Bearings and fuse.
Gen 1 & 2 motors were horrible. Upgrade the spring and the motor would struggle and die.
Gen 3 Seem to be running mint.
Another side effect of an upgraded G&G M14 was trigger response. The trigger's electrical contacts would heat up after 5+ minutes of normal firing. Carbon would build up on the trigger contacts and a trigger delay would occur.
This delay meant that you would pull and hold the trigger for 2-3 seconds then the gun would fire.
If you wait 5-10 minutes the contacts would cool and would return to normal operation.
A fix for this is a piece of 1/8th inch shrink wrap around the trigger blade contact lever. This extra space will add more surface area for the electrical connection.
It will also cut the trigger pull in half to almost a "Feather State".
Time: 10 minutes
Tools: Phillips head screwdriver, Lighter
Supplies: 1/8th Shrink Wrap
How-To:
1. Remove the trigger group and remove the barrel assembly & receiver.
2. Remove the trigger lever - located on the right side of the gear box. There are 2 small phillips head screws which hold it in place. It lifts up and out.
3. Cut a small 1/4" piece of 1/8th shrink wrap.
4. Put it over the trigger blade contact nub.
5. Heat it up with a lighter. Make sure it grips and give it a light tug. If it comes off - put it back on and re-heat it with a lighter.
6. Reassemble.
Note: Do not over tighten the trigger lever screws or the trigger lever will not move at all. Just snug them up and check operation before install the receiver back into the stock.
If you continue to have a Trigger Delay you have to convert over to MOSFET trigger or a car relay setup. A FET or Relay eliminates the Load from the trigger switch, improves trigger response, and increases electrical efficiency.
I run a Systema M150, Prometheus PSG1 6.03 cut down to 560mm, Super Torque Gears, Head spaced piston with 2nd pickup tooth removed, 9.6v3600mAh HO battery, deans connectors and Car relay trigger setup.
