Some of the Battlesim guys have been talking about what if the war hadn't ended in '45 and was still going on in 1950 , what would the German troops be wearing? So i put together this set up last night of a Fallschirmjager in the summer of 1950 Marsh pattern jump smock and Liebermuster pants and helmet cover.

I wonder what an American GI would look like...............Oooo I bet he would be equiped with a new version of the BAR!!! Except this version was belt made of stamped steel to make it lighter and it is belt fed from a 200rnd 3006 ammo box that he strapps onto his lower back!!!! yeah and the gun snaps into a pistol belt that had a stock holder much like the WW1 BAR belt. Every GI equipped with the M1918 A3 Browning Automatic Machine Gun fireing from the hip on full auto!!
....well...I think it would be cool.......lol

More likely they 'd still have garands as it was streets ahead of everybody else's rifle.
And the m14 was being prototped in the late 40s
The UK would be looking at the EM2

If it was going on by 1950s we'd all be wearing NBC suits and respirators... That's exactly what I was thinking. If anything the allies would be fighting more on Japanese soil than on German. Millions of OD#7 clad GI's. A reenactors worst nightmare!

I hope the Chinese or somebody gets a set of repro Leibermuster running in an M45 cut. It's my favorite camouflage by far and Alpenflage just doesn't cut it.

Well , Alpenflage is not the real name for Swiss camo , it is actually Swiss Liebermuster , at the end of WWII the Swiss started their own production of Liebermuster , they just made it in darker colors and added another color to the pattern.

I actually really like Alpenflage, its one of my favorite patterns. I have an Alpenflage summer uniform, I some times wear the jacket to school and people are always interested in it cause they've never seen it before. I want to put together an entire Swiss kit, but I can only find the Alpenflage uniform, helmet, and helmet cover.

I think its because the kit was carried in the pockets and not webbing, same wiht the integral rucksack.
That stuff used to be rarer than panda spunk in the 80s with sets going for over 600 dollars as the swiss army were terrified of soviet infiltrators so they made each piece have to be signed in and out and surplus was slashed and burned making it very collectable.
When they changed patter in the ealry 90s it became almost impossible to give away
In the uk you could get a full set for about 40 dollars.

Thanks Gadge, that answers my question, though I am wondering where can you find Swiss Army Boots from the days when they were using Alpenflage?

Your best bet would be WepHaus, they have all sorts of obscure boots.
In regards to the leibermuster being sold on eBay, what a strange auction! The item was for a ridiculous size and the camo print was quite a bit off. Not only that, but it sold for 350USD!

cos the average re-enactor is middle aged & over weight
I think evo, barry and I are the only ones in our group the 'correct' build for wwii. and im probably a little too tall but playing a rupert i can get away with it...better food dontchaknow.

Gadge, what rank are you when you reenact?
Me and Jager Dru joke about being the only "really" authentic people in our reenacting group, as we are both 19 and skinny. Probably wont be able to say that in a few years though!

Usually a captain or subaltern, depends on the scenario. I'm 32 so with an 'emergency commission' thats abou tright for 1944 in the UK airlanding. For the recent training day i rebadged as platoon sgt, again about the right age. evo and i are centre back.

Nope, we wore that to a pick up game. Red Dawn was cancled due to lack of sign ups. Everyone was "pumped" to go but no one committed.

Nice imps guys. Im lookign forward to attending some modern theamed games during the summer, but wearing my cammo Marine imp with my BAR and Bar gunner web gear set.
I have also been playing around with the idea of getting the best cammo uniform I can find and set up a Mercenary imp with my WW2 gear set up how I want it not according to WW2 set up)

This has to be the most authentic set I've ever had. I've got the boots and all, they're just not on the picture. Also, to my great shame, I forgot the gas mask and bag in my room! Something you'd never see in the Gulf. Why so? Because I bought this off an ex Brit para, as a complete kit (they never returned their kit), who also told me he ditched his SA80 for an AKM when they started actual fighting.

That PLCE looks like its never been used i'm gobsmacked if thats been to war, you should see the state of my kit after an exercise let alone a full on op.
Looking good but roll up and tape loose straps.
Also nobody in the British army has used scrim since the late 80s, its avery 60s and 70s thing to be honest., your shemagh is much better for the impression
But overall very nice. Most of the early stages of the war were fought in NBC suits as well, my lot were there so I've heard a few tales.
Also get some black elastic and fix it to your helmet cover front, allows the helmet to fit easier with a respirator and we all did it, the other option is a ring pul form a grenade in the loop where the chin strap clips gives the chin strap and extra inch.
