You should rent it! It is a classic. It isn't very high on the list of good movies, uniform authenticity wise, but it was quite well done. It did a very good job showing the whole scope of the invasion. Click Plus, John Wayne is in it. How can you not watch it after hearing that?

Its really a great movie. Its not really corny at all. The uniforms are ok but the M41's are all OD and there under shirts are cotton and white. Many of the paratroopers and the infantry use M43's also. But its a good movie. I think you should rent it.

When you watch it keep in mind that it was filmed where it happened!! Not all the scenes mind you but battles at Sainte Mere Eglise, The Orne river Bridge/Pegasus Bridge as well as Pointe du Hoc to name a few, were all filmed where it really happened. When you see bunkers and gun batteries in the movie, they are the actual bunkers and gun batteries that were there and still are there. They couldn't film the landings on Omaha Beach, because that is all built up now with summer beach houses and private homes. As I remember that was filmed in Spain. The vehicles are OK, Sherman and Churchill tanks, but the German Aircraft are BF-108's Worth watching just to see the locations and if you ever travel there, you will recognize most of those places too!!

You know those 5,000 ships you say the Allies don't have? WELL , THEY HAVE THEM.
Head for home . The Luftwaffe has had it's day ;D ;D
Welcome to France , Vive les Americains! Vive les Allies , Vive la France.

I wouldn't know about the uniform colors, as I've only seen the black and white version of it, BUUUUUUUT it is a classic. The vehicles are OK, Sherman and Churchill tanks, but the German Aircraft are BF-108's Worth watching just to see the locations and if you ever travel there, you will recognize most of those places too!! You forgot the BITCHIN scene of the Free French forces at Ouisteram! Vive les Americains! Vive les Allies , Vive la France. "I brrrought zome Champagne, but I do not sink zer weel be enough, for ev-vry-won! Welcome to France!" The best part of that, was when he almost got run over by the tank.

They can't make movies like this anymore these days, big, giant epic war movies with literally dozens of movie stars in the cast. he budget woukd be astronomical!
