Winter Counter-Offensive Operations Northern Army Group 41'An intrepid armored reconnaissance vehicle from the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Division scouts out Soviet advances. Russian forces have begun their counter offensive against Army Group North and Center and are using the extreme cold of the Russian countryside to wage a series of devastating blows to the over-stretched German supply lines. Time: 20th-22nd of February with an inclement weather date the the following weekend. I'll watch the 5-day forecast on the week of the event and if all looks good it will be set in stone. This gives us the choice of two weekends to get the event in. When I say inclement weather, I'm not talking about 20-degrees and higher but sub-zero. If it is between those temps, I'll make a judgment call. Place: Town of Nashville, WI - Alexander property located at 849 Forest Lane, Pickerel, WI Cost: A donation box will be available for voluntary contributions to MOA's vehicle fund. There should be indoor accommodations for all attendees either in the cabin or inside a heated garage. Bring cots and sleeping bags. Please PM me if interested in attending. I will again enforce the 180-day biodegradable bb rule. Bring your own or buy from me at my cost. Here is a good supplier hotspotairsoft.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1776This event should have the debut of the German Kubelwagen and possibly other interesting debuts as well. It is one of my personal favorite times of the year for airsoft. Several scenarios are on tap for Saturday with Friday after 1400 hrs being the arrival time for camping and visiting with the enemy. Saturday night sleeping will be allowed (for out of state travelers and others) and Sunday gaming will be optional if we have any interested parties. This year my intention is not to conflict with reenactorfest (1st weekend in February) in Illinois so that any players from there that want to come won't be torn in their loyalties. CURRENT ATTENDEE ROSTER 3rd Panzer GrenadiersOtto Verkaufer Paul Wellnitz Franz Verkaufer Garrick Udet Dietrich Werner Alban Schonberg Ryan Voigt Ritter Han 110th Panzer GrenadiersDave Kohler Jarred Jimmie Karl Steiner 198th Rifle DivisionTroy (Boris) Buddenhagen Kevin (Ivan) Buddenhagen Oleg Zhiviten Jakub Trederski (partisan) Udo Schaafsky Andre Robin 2nd Ranger BnMSgt Tom Cpl Alex MillsI needed to change this date as I discovered a number of other events locally are planned near the property that weekend and it would have been a congested cluster-yuck. I hope everyone can still make it. No need to cancel or reaffirm your attendance. If you make it fine and otherwise we'll see you at the next one.

If I can get a ride and I might be able to make it. I just got a very convincing soviet impression and my custom gun should be done by then.

That's great conrad. I hope to see you there. After a bit I will post an attendance roster above. Any hint what your custom weapon is going to be? Hmmm?

I might be able to make it to this. Considering that there aren't any events in Illinois anymore...Would a American be allowed to this? I'll look Flaggrantly Wrong as hell if I do, considering my imp is a mix of American stuff from different units and stuff, and then I'd wear my M43's to stay warm. But I'll get some stuff at RF though so we'll see...

Neville - Since you are 16-yoa I'll sponsor you. No better time to "break the ice" than a Winter event. Seriously, American is no trouble. We'll find a place for you. MOA is primarily Russian-German at present, but a growing interest in fielding US forces exists. The 2nd Rangers (3-guys) have been frequent attendees to our events and you can fall in with them if they show. Otherwise we'll add you somewhere. We worry more that you have a WWII kit and weapon than what nationality you represent. Obviously, for certain pictures (team shots and the like) you might not be invited in but otherwise you'll still get to participate and fight and camp if you show on Friday. I've always said there is untapped potential in the Illinois area for some growth in MOA so feel free to lead the charge. Get some good stuff at RF!

Hmm, I honestly have no idea why my profile says 16, but I'm 15 if that matters. I have been to an event before. If the Rangers do come, I'd have no problem rolling with them. We will be housed indoor for sleeping consitions right? And about the address. Is it in Nashville or Pickerel?

SCENARIOS FOR FEBRUARY EVENT
It's always a little difficult to craft scenarios for these things because a lot depends on the allocation of the sides but we can tweak them the day of depending on attendance.
1st Scenario - Kubelwagen Encounter
Members of the 3rd Panzergrenadiers have been detached in a small wooded area outside of Minsk to repair a disabled Kubelwagen on the road. Three German soldiers start out at the site of the disabled vehicle while the remainder are sent up the line to ensure that the vehicle is returned safely to HQ. The Russian and partisan forces in the area have very different ideas however, and have been sent to permanently disable the vehicle. In this scenario the Russians must place an explosive charge in the vehicle to win. German defenders are initially few and the two German forces are separated. We will use wound cards like they did in Washington. Also, specifics of this scenario will be divulged only to the commanders on the day of the event.
2nd Scenario - Mop Up
Battered remnants of Russian defence forces have dug in by a small hill near some buildings. They need to be mopped up by advancing elements of the XIV Korps and the 3rd Motorized Infantry Division has been given the task. The Russians will set up a defence by the concrete blockhouse and cabin and must defend to the last communist.
3rd Scenario - Pripyet Marsh Action
Russian forces have escaped into nearby marshy terrain and are planning a withdrawl. German forces are employed to prevent this. The Ruskies will start this one down at the marshy point of the property and need to get to the road network with as many of their soldiers as they can. The Germans will be trying to prevent this.
Specifics as to victory conditions, wounds, respawn areas, etc. will be available at game date to the Commanders only.

We are going to ask that wounds or hits are theatrical. Arghh. Mien Lieb!! It is going to pay to be convincing so that the opponent knows you are hit. Try to get out of the habit of yelling "Hit" unless it sounds theatrical. Thank you Battlesim. Wound Rules for this event. The hit player falls and pulls out their wound card. As soon as the hit player ascertains their condition they can if surviving call for a medic. Medics can be anyone willing to risk being shot while attending to the victim. If the medic reaches you and touches you and counts to 60, then you continue to be eligible as a player and may fight on at 100%. The opponent has some options after hitting you the first time and must wait and see that you have called for a medic, (they watch you fall, they watch or hear you call medic - meaning that you have read your wound result) or see that you've read your wound card and returned it to your pocket. At that time the shooter may elect to shoot again or wait for additional targets and shoot the medic and the player or maybe the shooter has had to move away and a rescue will be possible. Two hits kills you and you head back and try to respawn. At any point a hit player may elect to respawn on their own and count themselves as killed. When killed and headed out of play remove any headgear and leave the area. Red towels or rags can still be used too, but won't be mandated at this event. To be playing you need some form of headgear and when not wearing headgear or displaying a kill rag you are NOT a target. When dead, please do not tell your teammates anything. You're dead after all. Example 1 - you are advancing and get hit. You give a convincing cry of pain and collapse. It makes sense at that point to reach for your wound card and hope for a pretty favorable result. No sense calling out without seeing if you have some fight left in you. Wounds cards might indicate death, or might say flesh wound meaning that you are good to continue unaided, or might say hit and may keep fighting but you are not allowed to move, or might say no moving or fighting but you can talk. Those will be the possibilities essentially. Example 2 - you are approaching a group of sneaky defenders (these are usually Russians and get hit. You do your theatrical death and then check your wound card. It says flesh wound. The opponent sees you looking at your wound card. You tuck your wound card back in a pocket. At that point the opponent can shoot you again and eliminate you but elects to hear if you call for a medic. Knowing that you can still fight at 100% with a flesh wound you elect to not call for a medic but roll to safety. The opponent curses his bad luck and you can continue fighting until hit again. Example 3 - You are hit again. (what a loser, always getting hit like you are ) You cry out and drop down and check your card. You see that it says "leg wound - you may fight and talk but cannot move." You pocket your wound card. You elect to continue fighting and return fire immediately killing your opponent and then call for a medic. 60-seconds later, after the medic arrives amazingly he has patched you up and you are 100% combat capable. (At any time you may also elect subterfuge. Lets say that you have a flesh wound but lie there yelling for medic and not fighting back. The opponent sees no one is very close and likes where you are lying and decides you are not a threat. He approaches closer so he can take out rescuers. You roll and fire and kill him. Just be prepared to defend your actions with the proper wound card. Honor system here unless someone knows otherwise. Of course a way around this is to play it safe and shoot anyone after they tuck their wound card back into a pocket. But you won't get any medics that way.) I think these rules are easy and once we get used to them will vastly improve the flow of the game. Just remember, the first hit is a wound card result and the second hit always forces a respawn. Theatrical deaths are still required on a second hit incident. No Hat or if a Kill rag is displayed = No Target. It makes sense for players to learn these rules and utilize the medic rules as they will add to team strength if done correctly. Therefore respawns will be LIMITED. I hate games where attrition can't decide the result. Where it is always 20 vs. 20 and no side can gain an advantage in numbers. With the options available in the wound card rules teams will get reward for risk or maybe not. That is where your battlefield decision making will come in. Finally, no one respawns alone or picks a new wound card alone. Peer pressure. New wound cards are drawn from a bucket with each new life and players wait to respawn in pairs or higher. I'll have these rules printed for everyone at the event.

Friday anytime after 2pm is arrival time. No organized fights on this night. But maybe something ad hoc for a night action will develop. But maybe not. Indoor accommodations. Saturday is the main battle day. Some will leave at the end of the day. There are three skirmishes planned and there may be more depending on time. Saturday night folks can sleep over if they want. Depending on how many are around for Sunday, there may be a morning skirmish. But weather is the big decider.

I'd recommend coming up on Friday so that you have some time to meet everybody and shoot the sh*t. Then you can focus on having fun on Saturday.

I always think one of the best things of any of these events is the kamaraderie of the pre-event time. We'll have a fire going outside and perhaps some kubelwagen rides and you'll get to know the group.

Okay, if i do come up friday who do i have to contact to requests a place to sleep? Sleep? In order for you to properly immerse yourself and because of your newer to these events status, sleep shouldn't be your worry. You'll be busy pulling guard duty so the rest of us can take cozy catnaps. Kidding, of course. See me, or my brother. (Otto or Franz)
