So, I'm looking to start a unit, U.S. Infantry or Airborne, in N.J., based in Southern New Jersey. First off, I wanted to see if there are any people nearby willing to join. I have three friends interested as well as one forum member interested. If you are interested, please post here with the following info:
Age:
Location:
Impression: (Airborne or Infantry and what division if applicable)
Weapons:
For what division we are going to do, we've been throwing around the following
90th Infantry Division
1st Infantry Division
29th Infantry Division
82nd Airborne
13th Airborne
101st Airborne
Please post if interested. Thank you.

I would say no airborne, because it's more money to start. My vote would be either 29th or 1st, because we need the sort of "star power" to get more people interested.
Name: Mike
Location: Monmouth County
Impression:Late War, still working on it
Weapons: Thompson
I vote 1st Infantry

Not that it matters but I think 1st ID is a great unit to do. We have plenty of airborne guys, leg is under represented.

As of now, after talking it over with a few of the friends interested, we are tossing between 1st ID or 29th ID. Both are of good fame, the 29th especially so during D-Day. It's a toss up right now.

I'll try to see if I can get a few of my friends. For now they'll have modern weapons, but I'll try to get them to at least have an M1, m41, and wool pants.

The Big Red One fought in North Africa, Sicily, and Omaha Beach. Gives you a little more to work with in my opinion. Nick

Name: Jason Location: Bordentown Impressions: 504th PIR, early war infantry in the works Weapons: Thompson, 1911, Springfield in the works Personally, I'd like to do the 2nd Infantry Division. They're not on the list, but you have a lot of options for uniforms and gear with them.

If your doing a leg USGI impression I would be willing to contribute as little as I can. Name: Nikolai Starkweather Age: 29 Location: Lockport, NY (Buffalo, NY area) Impression: USGI 35th Infantry Division. Both late and early war impression. Weapons: MP40, Thompson, .45, Sten, blank firing M1 Garand Suggested division: 1st, "The Big Red One fought in North Africa, Sicily, and Omaha Beach. Gives you a little more to work with in my opinion. " +1 As a side note, not to hijack the thread here, if there's anyone interested in hitching up in the western NY area...between Rochester/Buffalo/Salamanca area...hit me up. Otherwise, South Jersey isn't outlandishly far, link up with them.

One cool unit to do would be the 2nd Infantry Division. They landed on Omaha beach June 7. The good part about doing them is that they had a lot of variety in their uniforms (they wool wools, HBT's and even wore the cammo uniform for a while.) The 90th also had a lot of variety in their uniforms, and would also be a good unit to do.
