This has been covered many many times in several threads. The AGM is fine for the conversion and is significantly better than the other Clone Marui M14s. It is higher quality than the KART, UTG, TSD and numerous pseudo Marui Clones. Each is unique in many ways and they are surprisingly different. With that said having done the conversions with all the base offerings the CYMA is even better. It shoots a bit harder and is generally a better quality replica. The barrel tolerances are tighter and where the AGM shoots at 330 FPS right out of the box (Very nice compared to the Marui at 290 FPS) the Cyam shoots at 365 FPS right out of the box and has a little nicer hop up. (Still not as precise as the Marui but very very nice)
The Marushin base rifle could supply you with the handguards and front gas assembly but the stock will not work even if you exhausted an enormous amount of effort and time trying to get it to work. The usable components off your Marushin will save you roughly $100.00 to $115.00 in actual Garand components. It's probably worth more as a wall hanger prop.
