It's a bayonet for sure, it's hard to see in the photo but there is a slot in the back for the lug. There are some marking on the blade but I can't read them at all due to rust. Found it in some old stuff last night and couldn't figure out what is is.

Found it in some old stuff last night and couldn't figure out what is is. That is a German M1898/05 2nd Pattern Bayonet. The German 98/05 "Butcher Blade" bayonet was the most common bayonet used by the German army in WWI, it was called the "Butcher Blade" by the Allies because of it's distinctive shape.

Thanks... I found that in my parents garage in a box of my stuff from when I was young. I asked my parents where it came from and they just said I got it when I was a kid and couldn't remember how or where. Cool find, thanks for the info.
