That reminded me of a modern airsoft game I was in some years ago. On a ranch, with the only real vegetation a narrow strip along a creek in the middle of pastureland. At one point the other side ended up circled around an oak tree and the our team in a larger circle at max BB range. I remember lying prone and watching BB's land in front of me and bounce along the ground without quite making it. It got boring fast.

I remember some LionClaw events where the terrain was so open that skirmish lines of hundreds approached one another looking Napoleonic until just shy of Max range taunting one another like the scene from Braveheart. It's nice living in the Northwest where the challenge is finding terrain that's not too dense!
