If it is anything cool, send it directly to me, no questions asked. I feel kind of lazy, and don't think I will get to even uploading the video that my father took. Tonight and tomorrow my area is suspose to receive a huge snow/ice storm, so if I have off I may do it tomorrow. I can't wait to see how yours turns out Sean. You really were in the applesauce of it. I sometimes felt tempted to shoot you as you were in a Kraut uniform.

If you did shoot me, I would have relieved you of your weapon and told you to go to your room. A harsh punishment, but appropriate nonetheless... ;D
All BS aside, what are you using to upload your father's footage? Firewire or USB?

BoB AAR -
From the eyes of a weary 9th SS soldier,
Mike (Ersatzjack) and I headed out on Thursday and after a fairly leisurely drive of about 17 hours we arrived in Amsterdam NY at about noon on Friday. We were the first ones there and we were greeted warmly by Sean (warlord516) and his father who were both out on the property putting last minute fix up touches on the event. Sean Sr. had a mini hoe that he was using to clean out the pre-dug trenches across the property. They had filled with water. Sean Sr. was breaking the ice in them which had formed and was scooping much of the water up and back onto the ground. Trenches become filled with water when not in use. Something to keep in mind because clearly defensive structures built above the ground won't have this problem.
As the day wore on, more players began to show up. We all quartered in the green building you see in the photos. It is unfinished with a two by four wall structure but it does have space heaters and a working fireplace which was kept going for the event. Still, the building temps were probably never more than 50 degrees but it beat camping outside.
Cold weather events are very interesting. The guns are affected. Gas is severely limited. Ersatzjack's STG crapped out in the first skirmish. As cool as it is in warm air, it failed to perform in the 20 degree temps. Fortunately, we had brought two extra springer mausers and Mike had a weapon for the event. AEG's were also affected. Battery life wears down quicker in the cold. Bring spares and you should be all right. But cold and snow has it's upsides too. It provides for great photos and visibility is increased. As long as you guys dress for it you'll be fine. It is hard to see the pb's across a field of snow. It is much harder to march an aeg's stream of pb's into a target. When shooting, it helps to align with a dark outline if you can.
Friday night was spent getting to know other players. Gryphon lent us his panzerfaust and even though it was cold, the thing worked pretty good. If you angled it up it could shoot out about 35 yards. We used it in skirmishes and destroyed a .30 cal mg nest and also sent one round thru a building window. Later, we lent it to the Ami's who couldn't replicate the results we had with it but apparently they still had fun with it. Mike will post a short video of it in action when he gets back online. Gordak and his U.S. team arrived around 7pm. By then there were about twenty of us. More (just a few) arrived on Saturday morning and I believe there were about 25 of us for the game.
SKIRMISHES - The event organizers had built three towns for this event. The Germans began the attack at Noville and had to take it before moving to Foy. After taking Foy they had to wrest the living quarters and the bridges from the Americans, cross open orchard and assault Bastogne. To do this they had unlimited regens. When shot they had to fall back to the last objective before returning to fight. The American defenders had only one life. When shot, they fell back to their next defensive position. These rules ensured that the German advance would take place and that their objectives would be met. Noville was the hardest nut to crack as it sat well out in the open with clear fields of fire against attackers. It was great to have the Cushman trackster tank. We advanced behind its MG42 Ultima fire and along with a flank attack from the only side of the town that had any cover we were able to sweep the Ami's from the first objective. I was shot twice in this attack and did not claim a kill. Like I said, tough town (position to take) Sniper98's brother, a Fallschirmjager armed with Gordak's MG34 was very effective in sweeping aside allied defenders.
Our next objective Foy fell fairly easily and we captured three americans who had fallen back from a .30 cal mg position and taken cover in the bed of a dumptruck. Not only did we start to use the .30 cal against them but they made the classic turtle defense mistake. In other words, they became so concerned with keeping their heads down low that we were easily able to encircle them. One of our members (majorray) assaulted the truck and took all three young americans into custody. The fight in them had disappeared. We next assaulted the bridges and after some resistance we were fighting out in the open again against an allied strong point. We had to clear a creek and attack their main bunker with camo cover. They fired mortar round after mortar round against us and many of us regenned during this skirmish. The battle ended when a tank led assault found four or five of us Germans within yards of the dug out bunker. We sprang from the Cushman's sides and charged. In this action I assaulted and shot one of the defenders who was standing in the trench. The other remaining two Americans surrendered at gun point. At this point my back gave out. For some reason, I began having muscle spasms and so I sat out a few skirmishes. I rejoined the Germans on the defense though later at Foy. Even with the back pain I wasn't going to let it ruin my fun. I'll relay Bastogne thru what I heard from Mike. The Germans attacked thru an orchard and approached a series of trenches and a town. Long range mauser fire took out defenders and the tank once again pushed a successful German attack. In this assault both Gordak and a friend of his named Tommy had the fun of surrendering in a trench they had been defending. Before Bastogne fell, the skirmish was ended and the Americans then had to fight in reverse order to recapture what the Germans had taken.
In the counterattack the rules changed. Ami's had unlimited lifes and could respawn one objective behind the one being contested. German defenders had one life and had to fall back. As expected, the Americans were thus able to recapture the field. In the final battle, once again at Noville, it was the American's turn to attack a tough position. Again and again they tried to flank us or frontally assault and again and again they marched back to respawn. I killed two in this skirmish with long range mauser shots and Josh (who owns one of Ersatzjack's mausers) picked off American after American. In fact, Josh had a great day with his Mauser killing 7 in one skirmish alone. He was a terrific asset to our team. Our MG's did the rest. Even so, with no regen's we were eventually overrun and the battles ended for the day.
The way the scenarios were run were great fun. Both sides had their moments and historically we replicated the initial German push and retreat. The scenarios also provided non stop trigger time. I'll tell you, constantly attacking can wear you out as it did me.
That night we packed and loaded the pak38 onto the pickup before saying our goodbyes and driving home.
Very fun event, good East Coast guys and a terrific playing field. The east coast group has a vibrant group of players and resources at their disposal. With Big ed and Gordak providing adult support for the American team (as well as a good portion of their firepower) and Josh and Sean providing German leadership and land, they have a good thing going out there. The weather didn't matter for the event. In August when we went east the weather was warm. In December cold. Both events went well. You just have to have proper structure and planning for an event.

Well we really didn't fall back from the .30 position. Jack and I saw a truck and was like w00t, this position will winz. For some odd reason, everyone kept falling back and dieing, so we were truely the last line of defense. I had my carbine with me, so I was really just there for the show, and Nick had trouble keeping his finger on the trigger. Jack was the really only one that could do anything, yet we were pinned down. The bed of the truck was too high to jump off of, as we could have sprained or broken our ankles.

Wow. What a great game, and what an awesome group. This time we had quite a different situation, with the Allies outnumbering the Germans by 3 or 4. Which was still really fantastic, because the way the scenarios turned out, each side got lots of trigger time. Friday evening was quite engaging as usual, with the majority of our players arriving that night in time for some maneuvers in the snow covered field. I'm not going to go into it...but it was pretty fun. Saturday morning, we tried our best to get the game kicked off as early as possible, seeing as we were going to lose daylight at around 4:30. But I think it worked out alright. The scenarios we tried to balance as much as possible to simulate the initial German onslaught and retreat. We actually intended for Bastogne to possibly fall, but it didn't end up that way, with the allies putting up a mighty defense. When one side took a "control point" as I like to call them (Noville, Foy, the dam bridge, and the concrete bridge) we would take a 10 minute break because there were a few guns that went down during the course of the battle, but it gave everyone a chance to catch their breath and get warm around one of the fires we had set up around the field. At around noon, we took a lunch break, and the usual trip to the corner deli to scare the applesauce out of the people working there. And then the raffle, in which Sam really did seem to win every other prize... Afternoon games put the Americans on the offensive, pushing Jerry all the way back to Noville, which once again proved to be difficult to take (almost as difficult to take as Bastogne, but you'll see that when I put up the next few videos...) It took quite a while for the Americans to kill every last one of us. And after that, some group photos, and goodbyes. I'd like to especially thank the Ersatz brothers for making the incredibly long drive out to our field, you both add a nice flair to any event. And allies, just so you know, the Grief troop still walks among you.... And thats my AAR, damnit Jack, where is yours? ;D "The boys from Wisconsin" And without further ado.......yes thats right, its the first video. Took me about a week to get it down, but there you have it: www.stage6.com/user/Warlord516/video/1960587/Battle-of-the-Bulge:-WWII-Airsoft-NYSome of you who don't have DivX media player may have to go to www.divx.com and download it. Don't worry its free and worth it. -Enjoy!!

You liked the last shot because about 8 Ami's shot a retreating German in the back. But, hey, you guys earned that town. Good video Sean. Good music and fun to watch. Looking forward to more of your director cuts.

My favorite part was watching Josh with his sniper rifle. He was very effective for one guy. Great video. I liked the music too. But sometimes I'd like to hear the audio of the event. Any of your films gonna keep the regular background noises? Anyhow, that was a blast. We'll be wanting to come back whenever you host another.

The rest of the videos will all have background audio and maybe some music here and there just for mood. Glad you've enjoyed it!

Alright, as promised:
The First Game: 1st wave.
In the first engagement I was assigned to an MG Crew. We were gave orders to take up a position upon the left flank, to provide suppressive fire and engage to distract the allied defenders. It was all in hopes that our armor would be able to maneuver into position and fire the Panzerfaust without having to worry about being flanked. The woods and the lower terrain to the Allies right flank of the village provided for excellent cover and concealment as I, followed by the Gunner, bellied it to within approximately one hundred feet of the allied line. However, once we positioned the MG-34 within some heavy brush upon a fallen tree, we were spotted. Welcomed by the Allies with the friendly sound of repeating Thompson’s and snapping twigs we quickly replied with the precision of the K-98’s and the firepower of a fully loaded MG-34. Alas, it was not enough and we quite quickly found ourselves suppressed instead of doing the suppressing. With the situation looking grim I took drastic action to free our Gunner from being suppressed; leaping from cover, I ran for a small bank to the right of the Gunners position. As I hoped the allies momentarily forgot about the MG-34 opening fire on the lone charging German with his K-98. This of course freed the MG-34 allowing him to fire; but at the cost of me being shot down.
As I walked back to the re-spawn point I observed our initial attack being cut down by the Allied mortar fire and the shear amount of heavy machine gun fire emanating from positions scattered along the narrow “runway” to the village. I could tell the allies were not going to be pushed aside with ease.
My first attempt to re-enter the battle was rather short lived. I started a fine jog along the tree line only to be literally hit with a mortar shell. Back to the re-spawn point!
This time at the re-spawn point there was a fair amount of Germans and the Tank. We gathered together momentarily and hastily made a plan to use the armor as cover while we, the infantry, moved behind it. I guess the idea here was to overrun the Allied positions with shear force. Our first attempt got us close to the village and we even managed to fire the Panzerfaust knocking out a building.
Then, wave after wave we used the Tank as cover and charged the Allies and wave after wave the Allied forces dwindled until the height of the Battle had an Allied Machine gun crew dug in at the banks of the bridge. I believe everyone knows that ended with a Panzerfaust knockout?
Anyway, I’ll do a couple more write-ups. But by far, the first engagement, 2nd engagement and last engagement were the most fun for me. They were also the only engagements throughout the day where I was able to confirm shooting an Allied soldier, or take prisoners.
Again! Thank you Shawn for hosting the event and thank you to all who showed. I had a wonderful time and am looking forward to more!!!

Thanks for the New Years gift. You really captured the "tank" action. That tank was really cool. When Josh gets it skinned and armed with a cannon it will be a real terror. I got hit early and had gun trouble and didn't get back with a substitute until the next skirmish so I'll be looking forward to other films where no doubt I'll be featured more prominently. Ackkk@!!! Who am I kidding? All day and not one kill to my name that I was certain of. Nevertheless, I still had a great time. I won't bug you to skirmish next time (even though eventually you did get in some action). I forgot at the event how much I like the videos months later. Good work. I definitely like the real sound with a softer music in the background. Super!!

Thanks for the New Year's treat. It was interesting to see the attrition of the battle for Noville. Clearly, that town was the toughest nut to crack for both sides I think. Lots of open terrain and hard to cross when assaulting strong positions. Keep up the good work warlord516.
