i have an idea for a skirmish, just an idea right now, but a skirmish where we play out the scenario of the germans invading great britain, the idea is basically to have a beachhead with some woods behind it then a river with 4 bridges going over it, then beyond that hills and then have an area designated as "London" where all allied commands would come from, once the germans captured this area they would have won the game, i'm still developing this idea so work with me here

sounds cool. always liked these types of scenarios London is pretty far inland. might want to make it a more coastal city. Maybe Dover or something.

well i've been developing my idea over the past hour, basically have 6 strategic command posts, "cities" if you will, once the city is captured the command building is seized the british flag is lowered, the german one is up (no swastikas, imperial german army flag), so soldiers can tell who owns what

Only British and German soldiers could play though.

you could probably have soviets there to, providing this happened in 1941 before russia was invaded, and all 5 italian reenactors could show up too! lol jk

this would be cool for like a 1945 or later event if the war didnt end an the germans pushed the allies back to the sea, that would be an awsome event

i'm not sure 1945 the war was pretty much won for the allies, it would probably have to be 41 when the germans could still think about attempting such a feet

Anyone ever read the book Fatherland? it takes place in '61 , the Germans beat back the D-Day landings , nuked the English in '45 forcing them to surrender and signed a cease fire with the US , the Ost Front has been static since then. The book is a lot better and more detailed than the movie.

A cool game would be the germans pushing back and winning the battle of the bluge then push the allies into the sea.

We have plenty of early war german and russian impressions here in the midwest... in fact, that's about all we do, only a couple of hardy rangers representing americans. Although our June event will be more late war... which is good since I have a feeling AGM Stgs will become more comon.

Or do the Russians use German and American weapons(!)

Check out the armory section of the board. Gryphon, the commander of the 198th Rifle Division makes a pretty awesome PPsh conversion out of M14 internals. He's also made a cheap Mosin conversion from a springer shotty. A couple guys have built nice mosin conversions from VSR-10 internals (or clones). I know there's an SVT-40 AEG project going on someplace.
My buddy just got an M14 -> DP28 conversion...
There are some guys who use Thompsons and MP40s, but overall the quantity of reasonable Russian weapons has been steadily increasing.

So,in other words, no major company is making them? and Russians using German or american weapons, just isn't right. Sure certain soviet recon units used German weapons, and a VERY few Thompsons made it to Russia. Its hard to believe that millions upon millions of PPSH's and Mosin Nagants were made, and no major airsoft company,or even small company makes them.

Where's the demand? Right now in the USA we have 1 Soviet unit doing WW2 Airsoft... it is growing, but still... the cost to spool up manufacturing facilities dwarf the potential revenue of that market..at least here in the US. Gryphon has sold a number of his PPShs to Europe, so there is some demand there.
As far as Soviets using period German and US weapons, it's better than the alternative I guess (burlap wrapped modern guns). Yeah not ideal, but until somebody starts mass producing soviet ww2 airsoft weapons, the status quo is what it is.
Based on our last event, the 198th probably have enough Soviet arms to equip a third to half their unit. This is a huge improvement over the last 18 months since our first ostfront event where there was maybe 1 mosin. These things don't happen overnight, as our organization (MOA) has grown we've gained members who have the know-how and facilities to start their own cottage industry in WW2 airsoft arms.

Don't forget, the Soviet 198th also has its own armored car reproduction (a ba-64) mortars, and who else knows what. They're always cooking up something.

Kinda like in blank fire reenacting.Soviets are WAY underrepresented BUT,the weapons are all over the place, and cheap! Except for the PPSH's. It's always been a relatively inexpensive impression to do right, but most people don't wanna do it because it's not "cool" looking and they can't wear camo head to toe! I do it,and it is cool! Hey,not much gear to lug around!

All this talk really makes me want to have an Airsoft battle with the Germans, Russians and Yanks all in one imaginative scenario. German’s pinched in the middle fighting for survival kind-of game! Oh yeah!

Well we have the Russians here in the midwest, Germans too. All we're lacking is some Amis... we usually only get 1-3 that show up for our events... and they love flanking maneuvers... so we do get a taste of getting pinched by Amis and Ruskies. ;D
I agree, it would be a blast if we got 25-30 Germans, 15-20 Russians and 15-20 Americans at an event... it would be the largest WWII Airsoft event to date.
We've tossed around the idea of trying to hold a WW2AA 'Nationals' where we try to get units from all over the country to attend. This would be the perfect scenario for such an event.
@franz... Yeah i didn't forget... the focus was more on small arms than vehicles and support arms.

What about a meeting on the Elbe, late war scenario?!?! Russians on one side and Americans on the other with the Germans being squeezed in the middle!

Sir V, There is a thread on that topic in this forum someplace...
The first Neillsville event was supposed to be along these lines: Patton Unleashed...alternate history, Germans team with the Americans to steamroll the Soviets out of Eastern Europe. But we only got 2-3 Amis to show up, and the rest is, as they say, history...
We do not have enough folks with American impressions in the Upper Midwest to pull it off. But that kind of event would be a blast. We'd have to build an Airsoft V2 rocket or something to hold them off ;D
