No way on 390-410! The battery couldn't push a spring with that amount of fps. There are a few problems because they used the M14 gearbox. The first is the cylinder is a Type-O, due to the length of the inner barrel (229mm) it should use a mid hole cylinder. Unfortunatly you can't just buy one because the Version 7 gearbox is sligtly longer where the cylinder sits. I will try and replace the piston and cylinder with a new match set and better piston head as well. I suspect some air leaks too.
By making the "S" version I can put in a longer inner barrel which will also help with the barrel/cylinder matching. I still need to figure out how to get a bigger lipoly to fit then I can also increase the spring to maybe a pdi 150 / M120
The tube slides over the front outer barrel shroud and I used the same two set screws that hold the outer barrel block and shroud in place, works perfectly to hold the silencer in place. Both friction and screws hold it in place.

No way on 390-410! The battery couldn't push a spring with that amount of fps. That's good news to me, I'd rather have the gun shoot in the 300fps range than 400!! I wonder why most of the places selling it claim that the velocity is 390-410!?!? I was worried I'd have to downgrade it like I did with the AGM MP44!!

Yeah thats me!! The gun just seems to miss fire. Spoke to the guys at the store and it seems like a bad connection on the wiring. Great gun though apart from the small teathing problem.
But thats what i get for getting the first one!

Since my review of the Sten MKII I've been working at a conversion to the MKIIS (Silenced STEN) and internal upgrades. INTERNAL UPGRADESI kept the upgrades limited with the fps down. I intalled the following: Guarder M14 Cylinder - GE-03-07 Prometheus Hard Pistion Ver. VII Guarder Ver. 3 Steel Cylinder Head Guarder Ver 3 Spring Guide w/ bearings Guarder Poly Piston Head (GE-04-03) Guarder Stainless Steel Bushings (6mm) Systema Hop-up Bucking PDI-130 Spring Due to the extended length of the "S" Model I was also able to install an M4 363mm long Prometheus EG 6.03 inner barrel. The net result is 338 FPS at the same ROF using the 7.4V lipoly. The STEN "S" is complete, I just need a decent camera. As soon as I can I will post better pictures. Be warned, The Sten "S" may look small but in reality the "S" model is 36" or 90cm long and it's no light weight. It shoots great now... I accidently killed the kitchen clock. -kalbs- OVER ALL VIEWBUISNESS ENDFIXING DETAIL (BOTTOM)

You could remove the cylinder and drill the hole yourself. You can also remove 5-6 teeth off the sector gear to short stroke the piston. It would correct the chamber/barrel volume but it would increase ROF, which is not usually desirable in Period weapons. But they are do-it-yourself options.

Kalbs..as usual...GREAT JOB!!!
I may have to try that conversion sometime. Maybe if AGM comes out with a cheaper copy, I'll give it a go. That way I can have a standard Mark II and the "S" model.
What did you plug the end of the silencer with?

IMA helped out with the latest goodies. Man, even shipping to HK they were fast a long winded answer Sir Veilance... The silencer tube isn't just hollow. I created two large rings from 6mm PVC sheet and drilled them with a center 1/2" hole. I then installed a +/- 6" long 1/2" dia. piece of PVC tube between them... sort of like a barbell. The "barbell" was glued together using 5 minute two part epoxy. The size of the rings were made to fit snug in the 40mm tube. Once the bar bell is complete it was set in slightly lower than the buisness end of the tube edge and fixed in place, again using 5 minute epoxy. I epoxied the appropriate size steel washer in the center to give me a perfect round hole. I then used epoxy putty, filled it then sanded it smooth. A little more body puddy, more sanding and then Tamiya flat black in several light coats... Done. Why only a 6" inch inner extension you ask? Because if I had another STEN hop-up I can switch back to a Standard MKII in about 60 seconds. The origional outer barrel and barrel block are still in place. Installing the inner barrel and hop-up is easy and it's only one set screw away from doing so. However, the silencer is snug and firmly in place without a hint of wobble. From Janes; Guns recognition Guide:STEN MKIISIn Production 1943-45 ROF: 450 rnds/min Length: 900mm (35.4") The "Silent Sten", origionally produced for clandestine forces but then taken into use by the British Army for use by patrols and raiding parties. The mechanism is that of the Mark II weapon, though using a lighter bolt, and the barrel and silencer are a special integral unit which screws into the receiver in place of the normal barrel and retaining sleeve. The canvas sleeve around the silencer is to protect the hand from heat, and it was not recommended to fire the weapon at full automatic except in the gravest emergancies"

That's funny you saw that, sort of. I've been talking with Viva about the MKIIS on line after they saw my review. I need to write them to correct the barrel length, they made it to short. I want one of those pistol grips they have though.
