awesome game. menu looks a bit cheapy, but great gameplay.Close Combat: Battle of the bulge is way better. Better graphics, awesome gameplay. Also, has an awesome game mode where you play a non-linear campaign. The idea is to capture all surrounding areas around bastogne and ardennes forest. I swear i spent at least 2 weeks capturing, recapturing and getting kicked out of st.vith. my only armor was in Foy and i couldn't get it there in time to reinforce the 82nd airborne in St. Vith. My artillery was my only savior and the minimal air bombing runs i was able to get through the bad weather.
very long winded post, but seriously Close combat battle of the bulge is great. Next best thing that runs on more modern computers would be Company of heroes which has awesome gameplay, but terrible authenticity.

Ah,yes, but the Russian Front one is by far the best! They just came out with a modern version that is pretty good. Challenging, but good.

its a RTS game. Over the top view controlling forces mostly on a platoon type scale. things like morale, how much ammo your troops have, etc go into how well your troops perform. pretty detailed game.
Just found out that Matrix games has remade (with new engine, new graphics, new gameplay) some of the close combat series as Close Combat: Longest Day and Close Combat: Wacht Am Rhein.
Considerably more expensive at $39.99 for digital download. I may have to buy Wacht Am Rhein anyways as I got more than my moneys worth out close combat: battle of the bulge back in the day.

dang there was a russian front one??? I didn't even know they still made the series. i gotta see if it'll run on my computer now hahaha the Russian Front one was the second in the series after Bridge too Far, which I never had. I had the Wacht am Rhein one, which is OK,but I think the Russian Front one is the best.

The closecombat series is all good. There is still an active modding community out there adding to the various games. You spend $4 for the CCV disk and have access to many mods for free at closecombatseries.net. Definitely worth checking out.
