I'm interested! And I know that theres a lot of us thats down for a new area. Is it a few acres of forest, or farm, urban? The thing is, is that we already put hours of manual labor into digging the trenches at Jers property, so would we have to put the same effort into this site?

The property is own by the State and is not that accessable to the public. My home borders it, so for us no problem. Unfortunetly the home owners in the area use it as a dumping site, just behind their homes. We call it the swamp. The Chief of police said that he does not care if we go back there. Kids in the neighborhood have been playing back there for years. So all the neighbors don't think anything about it. It is like stripmine land is over grown and covers several miles. It's between two rivers and is unuseable by most. It would cost too much to develop and the State has written it off. The kids play airsoft down there and I supervise many of their games. What would gurantee our continued use would be a clean up day. I have not been all the way through the area and that would take several days to do. No hunters are allowed back there, still too close to residents. Barry

Alright, that sounds good! If you want to host an event pick a date (preferably over a school break) and I'll be sure to let everyone else know! Thanks Barry

I would say the same here as long as dates match up with school and all.

Hey let me know when that school break is. We are fast approaching winter and it's just the guns that will refuse to work right. If you want to do just look around on a weekend we can shoot for around Thanksgiving. Once the leaves have turned and fallen we would be able to see a whole lot more.

We have agreed on a date of Saturday the 28th around noon. This is just a meeting to check out the site, uniforms and guns are a option. I'm bringing one of my guns just to see how it performs in the field. If you are interested PM me for directions.

We really want to get guys out here to see how great an area we have. We are going to invite some of the modern guys out in civis with restrictions on their modern guns to participate. Also I would like to suggest that as many guys as possible put together an impression from the other side they are doing. Like guys doing German put together an allied impression, and visa versa. All this is an attempt to make it more FUN!! ;D

With the event closing in, this Saturday, it should be noted that there will be a restriction on the FPS of the guns. Nothing over 400 FPS will be allowed. So take this into consideration prior to coming out. This too will be enforced on the guests from the Illinois Airsoft Asso. They are being asked to wear civilian clothes to best blend in, so I hope they will advoid any loud colors. We are going to try some of the HRS's ideas. Helmets will be worn by all WWIIAA members, and when hit they will remove the helmet leave the battle area to return in a specified time with helmet back on. Some of the guys are bringing ideas for battle senerios. So it should be interesting.

Well as it happened nothing happened on Saturday, but Sunday turned out to be great!! Five of us participated and proceeded deep into the area. We stayed within the area along the canal. Lots of fallen timber made great cover. We were able to use a withdrawl type of action. Plenty of room and many opportuneties to expand. We stayed out until past sunset, making it a very real situation. Looking forward to another event soon. Many of the guys wanted to do something as soon as right after Christmas. Weather permitting I think we will shoot for around the end of Jan or the begining of Feb.

With Barry's permission, a new event has been planned for this Sunday (1/17/09) from 12:00 noon to roughly 5:00 pm. I know it is short notice (we're working on getting this better organized in advance), but at this point, it is still rather informal and all interested parties should contact me before hand for directions, etc. Major field rules are listed in the posts above. We encourage new players to come and check it out. As such, modern airsoft players will be allowed granted that they avoid the use of any modern camo. While period clothing is encouraged, most types of civilian clothing will be acceptable for now. Modern guns will be allowed on a trial basis, but they will strictly be restricted to semi-auto only. Also please keep the FPS limitations listed above in mind as we are out there to have fun and work on tactics/team work rather than hurt one another. The other game set for later this month may still occur (we will inform), but with planning issues, this weekend looks like it will work the best for most of us. Civilian/partisan as well as allied impressions are highly encouraged as we seem to have an abundance of Germans. This will be the second true event for this field. The first event went well and this is definitely quality terrain for playing on. There is alot of variety. A good amount of the land is swamp (would estimate 30-40%), but that isn't a huge deal as it is crisscrossed with various elevated paths that have the ability to confuse as well as provide for great on the spot defensive positions. This field is alot more realistic/interesting than many other fields i have played on. One can legitimately get lost (within reason of course). It just adds to the fun. Less spray and pray and more planning/sneaking around. In addition to the swamp areas, there is also a good amount of outright flat wooded terrain to play with. In my book, the field is quite large. A good portion of the field lends itself to linear combat, but it's so thick, that it doesn't seem to be an issue. It may be a bit wet out there in some areas this weekend (so be prepared), but the weather is also supposed to begin to warm up a bit. Should be nice weather to play in. Also, in my experience thus far on this field, getting really wet is generally avoidable and falls on personal preference (i.e. are you going to look where you are walking or just trudge through a low spot). It will however, most likely be muddy, but that generally goes without saying. We once again encourage any interested parties to come out and apologize for the short notice that we have been providing thus far. Assuming things continue to go as well as they have been, we plan to have some larger/more formal events with the arrival of spring (before it gets super hot and the mosquitos come out). These first few events will obviously be small, but we are working our way up slowly.

Right now all of our events are small one day deals. We are hoping to grow and we will, it's just the time of the year right now. For those who are interested the event starts at 9 and ends at 5.

Well I have found another great site and the possible home field for the Chicagoland guys. This is a awsome site, over 100 acres. It's just outside of Earlville, IL. about an hour west of Chicago. It's name is Stone House Park. I plan on meeting with the owners to discuss an event there.
