Full length rifles is also a niche not really addressed with Airsoft offerings. Definitely need to address the main battle weapons and most common weapons first. If I might also say the Germans are currently accomodated fairly well with the MG 43, MP40, MP44 and Kar 98 although the Gas Tanaka is a bit spendy and the DBoys isn't particularly skirmishable with its low FPS and shell ejecting design.
For the allies currently there is just the Thompson and recently the sten with the PPSH soon to come. The Garand and BAR are obvious needs with the carbine close behind. Down the road the G43, Grease gun, SVT 40 et all would be nice to haves but not as urgently obvious as the Garand AEG

I vote for the following:
M1 Garand M2 Carbine Kar 98 Non-shell M3 Grease Gun Lee-Enifield Bar Bren MG34 MG42 M1919 PPS-43s Degtyarev DP Breda model 1930 Breda Model 1938A
Those are the ones that I think would go. Both as main weapons and as support! Which in our present day world we have very few to no support weapons that we can afford! I mean that you can find a MG 42 but they run around $2000+! Most of us can't really afford that!

Yes, agreed rifles are the core. It wasn't like call of Duty where everyone runs around with a Thompson, Mp40, or STG44 . The M1, Kar98, Lee Enfield, and any other main rifle countries used in WWII should be the base on which WWII airsoft should be based. After that would come the heavy machine guns as the firepower of BAR's or other Mg was the core of a squad.

The M2 carbine was a VERY late War weapon. More common in Korea and after.

I think the main battle rifles of America, Briton, Germany, and Russia would be a good step.

>> Ever fire one? Ever handle one?? A friend of mine had one years ago,had to sell it. There was a reason the United States didn't adopt that weapon. It was too different exotic, and it had too many small parts that could get lost . Sure, its neat looking, but thats where it ends.

well thats because the good ole U.S. of A looks nothing like the PTO except some parts of california, and not that many to people have a japanese impression. if i found a bunch of people who had japanese and usmc impressions i would join them. (if anyone does have a pacific unit on the west coast give me an invite i would love to join ya)

Good initiative to start this thread.
The guns I'd like to see in airsoft version is:
1. M1 Garand AEG 2. Kar98k springer with VSR parts 3. Mg42 AEG (where is AGM's version!?) 4. FG42 AEG (yeh i suckz) 5. G43 AEG 6. SVT-40 AEG
Seeing the recent influx in WW2 airsoft guns, at least half of these might become reality within a couple of years.

i agree that we need no-shell kar98k's and magazine-loading garands, but in my personal opinion would like a type 99 rifle or a g98 sniper rifle(heard in an old thread that limited quantities were issued to snipers).

I still think a Garand, K98 springer and a Mosin Nagant springer would be the best choice for the next guns to be made. And to all of you naysayers I say: Gimme! =B

Sorry if I'm posting this in possibly the wrong thread but I went to the HK Toy and Game fair yesterday. Honestly, as far as I saw there wasn't much airsoft representation this year. I saw STTI, WE, Cybergun, KWC and a couple of the plastic China gun manufacturers. There wear a couple of the webgear guys too but all modern nylon crap.
Cybergun had the ARES PPsH on display so I gave a once over. I was surprised that the drum only holds 71 bb's and the wood stock they had on the display PPsH had a big bummpy knot in it. Other than that it looked nice. All other guys had their usual wears. More SCARs and AK's and lots of GBB's, nothing new in the AEG's. One of the Chinese guys had the same old kar98k with the shell loads.
In a nut shell... very poor showing for airsoft

Kalbs, that is disappointing news. Thank you for keeping us updated.
I agree with Fusilier's comments above. We need the standard issue infantryman's weapons. The following must be manufactured in my opinion:
Garand Lee Enfield Kar 98 Moisin Nagant
This what the majority of soldiers used in WW2. It's a major let down that the only way we can get these rifles is to make them ourselves. (yes, yes I know versions are available, but I am talking about reasonably priced, reliable, skirmishable weapons)

Ian is once again on top of it for us! We really appreciate that! I am envious of you, you got to see the new Papa Sha up close and personal. Don't worry about that knot as it is copied off the real thing. We were comparing the different MFG's of the RS ones a few years ago and noticed that. Shame you didn't get to see that clone BAR. Still hoping!

M1 Carbine, folding stock model included. AEG M1 Garand. AEG
KAR98, spring rifle, non shell ejecting. MG42 and MG34, AEG's cheaper price though. G43, AEG
Those alone would make me happy and content.

Common standard issue rifles first. I'm talking about the Kar98, M1 Garand, Mosin Nagant, Lee Enfield, and Arisaka. Most soldiers carried the standard issue rifles in the frontlines.
