Hookay, so my birthday is coming up relatively soon and all of my friends have recently acquired new guns that will kick my WWII-fanboy ass. I'm currently using the MP-40.
Actually, I shouldn't say that. The MP-40 is actually almost as or just as good as what everyone else got. But I'm still a WWII nerd and I need more. I go back to college in about a week so I won't be play airsoft again until mid-May.
Anyway, I was considering getting either the AGM MP-44, the AGM, Sten, or something from sgttom. We'll leave that out for now though. This thread is strictly about the Sten vs MP44.
So, here's what I understand as of right now; someone correct me if I am wrong. The MP-44 is overall of higher quality (shoots harder, more accurately). However, it is also very heavy, only has hicaps, and has few interchangeable parts.
The Sten is both weaker and less accurate, but it is lighter, uses MP40 mags, and it's easier to go prone with (although I never found that to be a serious issue with the MP40).
So here's what might be the dealbreakers for me:
1. The Sten uses MP40 magazines. I already have 3 mags for the MP40. AND they're midcap, which I like.
2. They're about the same price, and the fact that the MP44 technically gives you more "bang for your buck", that is worth taking into consideration, especially in the face of the more modern SCARs, M21s, and M4's I'll be encountering.
3. I'm not sure about the Version II, but from what I've seen the Sten has an absolutely ridiculous battery-changing process.
4. My local airsoft store offers the MP44 for sale, but no the Sten (although at very high prices). This means that there will be more people in my area who will have the MP44, but no one will have a Sten unless they're WWII nerds like I. This makes the gun more unique, which is something I like. In fact, that's probably why I got into WWII airsoft in the first place instead of going with the traditional, boring M16.
and 5. I have an IJA cap with the neck flaps, I used to have a Nambu Type-14 with holster (R.I.P.), I later on plan on acquiring some form of airsoft Arisaka, and I'm South Korean (so I kindof look the part, better than German or Russian anyway). I could rather easily lie and say that I'm an IJA soldier who invaded Malaysia and Singapore and picked a Sten off of someone's cold, dead body. I can't imagine any possible way an MP-44 may have ended up in a Japanese soldier's hands. The Sten also bears some resemblance (though fleeting) to the Type-100... or at least they both handle in a similar manner.
I'm really split on the decision. The MP44 performs better, but the Sten is cooler (and I have MP40 mags). What do you guys think?
