Does anyone have any ideas for a German unit I could portray for airsofting events. I would prefer one that fought on the eastern front, because my friend is going to get a PPsh-41 (for $295!) and wants to act like some of the people that "captured" weapons during the war. Like German soldiers that would take scoped Mosin-Nagants for instance, or British soldiers that took MP40s. thanks -Whiplash169

German units would get rotated from the East front to the West front quite a bit , specially if they had been beaten up pretty bad in combat , they would be sent to a quiet sector and retrofitted and rearmed so they could get sent back to the front , so many units saw action on the Ost front. Think about what you want to be a soldier in a Panzergrenadier unit or in a regular infantry unit.

You are going to have bad luck finding Russians to fight. I wanted to be Russian but there were no units. My friend already had a complete US infantry uniform so I started US. We are looking for Germans to face. I will set up a Russian impression though after my US.

If you are getting a PPSH,it would be MORE correct to portray a unit on the Eastern Front. Captured weapons were more prevalent there, and also there was access to ammunition supply for said weapon. not so much in the West with a Soviet made weapon. YES, the Ost Troops that were in Normandy had them, but that was about it. Ideally you should put a Soviet kit together, its rather inexpensive, and their is a dearth of Soviet units in the AS community.
And do your research!!

A agree with fusilier. I my self wanted to do eastern front but never found any groups in MD. I am planning to assemble a soviet impression after my US infantry impression. You should spend no more than 250 excluding guns. The good (or bad) part about Russians is that only Leiutenants and up recieved pistols, so no worries about the Hudson TT-33. And if you also want to do blank firing reenactments a Mosin-Nagant is as low as $70. Snipers are $1000 for a WWII made one. $500 ones are fitted with 1980s produced scopes, so even if they don't specify which, the 500 is almost always 80s production
