I've mainly stuck to using co2 pistols as sidearms but after having a TSD 1911 give up on me and two other weapons have leaking mags. I think I'm gonna go on to spending more on a gas blowback. I've looked at vids and threads on how to take care of one (and also helped a friend clean and lube his HFC Beretta Cougar) so I'd like to think I know what I'm doing but I'm worried that I will mess something up so I just wanted to know if I have everything right.
I use UTG silicone spray to clean the gun. I spray all moving parts and along the rails of the slide and a small piece in the rear of the slide, in the middle, I forget what it is called.
To clean I spray some on a Q-tip and wipe down the innards of the gun and go over it with a paper towel. I then do the standard procedure for cleaning the barrel.
To take care of the magazine I spray some silicone onto a Q-tip or paper towel and run it through the track of the mag where the BB's are held. I then spray a little bit of UTG silicone spray onto the 3 ports in the mag(again the names escape me). The one bottom , the one on the back, and the one on top all get a quick spritz. I then put in some green gas in the mag before storing.
After this I re-assemble the pistol and run it through the action a few times before taking a paper towel and wiping down the gun of any silicone that might've slipped through onto the frame of the gun.
Am I doing all of this right or am I messing something up or forgetting an aspect of the process. I'm getting a KJW soon and wanna make sure I can adequately maintain the gun
