This is a newly released action figure of one of the fellows who did him self up "indian style" on D-Day. Quite the character he just passed away. His action figure is excellent FYI, The factory sold out their 1,200 unit run within just a few days. Check it out here. www.thetoyfederation.com/product.php?productid=20731&cat=0&page=1

As a former 440th Airlift Wing historian, I often mentioned these guys in the orientation briefing I gave for new members. I got to attend several reunions with the pilots that flew these guys into combat. I happily remember those affairs and their stories.
There was one story that they [the Filthy 13] didn't clean because they weren't going to clean until after D-day. The other story was how they chose their squad leader. In England at their base, they had constructed a fighting pit and the squad leader chosen to lead had to fight the squads strongest for the honor to lead them and win. It was boxing of course which was hugely popular at the time. The brass allowed it for morale just as they looked the other way regarding haircuts and hygiene.
The link gives good information. I can't argue with anything presented.

This figure is actually of Jake Mcniece the "founder" of the filthy 13. He is also still very much alive : P
It was made in time for the anniversary of D-Day and he was present at a get together in philly, if i'm not mistaken, to sign them and copies of his book.
I actually collect a bunch of this stuff so was very excited to hear the news.

Jake is indeed still among us. I was thinking of Jack Agnew a member who just passed.
