"No Swastikas Please"
>>>> Ok you want me to take my insignias off my tunic, cap, etc. and drive and pay to be in this event?
And you want this to be a top notch accurate event?
No thanks.

Maybe he means no party armbands or giant HITLER flags. Nothing wrong with that at all. If he means no swastikas on uniforms well then that is a different story. I do wish him luck as I would like to play at the field he is talking about next year maybe. It is a very nice field for a WW2 game.

"No Swastikas Please" >>>> Ok you want me to take my insignias off my tunic, cap, etc. and drive and pay to be in this event? And you want this to be a top notch accurate event? No thanks. Just place some tape over the patch and your ok, per D-Day Park owners rule not milsimevent rule.

So anyways, as someone new to milsimevent events I have a few questions.
1. For those of us coming from out of state, will on-site camping be allowed such as what occurs during the OK D-Day event?
2. For those of us old enough, is beer or booze allowed in the campsite, should camping be allowed?
3. What form of censorship is required to "denazify" what would otherwise be a historically accurate uniform? (Does a little tape over the sewn patch work?)
-or-
4. Are there any "no swastika" exceptions for re-enactors and such whose patches are sewn? (Because somebody's gotta do it, we portray soldiers who were otherwise ordinary human beings who by ignorant virtue or birth or otherwise served under an evil regime, we are not Nazis ourselves, nor care for politics in general on the playing field.)
5. What waivers must be provided by participants and where can they be found?
6. As new data is provided concerning policies and regulations, can a consolidated post, or perhaps a data post and a FAQ post be formed to contain such data, rather than multiple piecemeal posts.

The tape over the insignia thing may turn off a lot of people that are really into WW2 history leaving you with mostly just an airsoft game that says it is WW2 but is just OD vs Grey. Good luck with your event.

I understand this and am sorry again this is not our rule but D-Day park rule.
I know most won't like the idea of covering the patch up. Were just having have fun and would still love to have some player from this site. We are not re-enactors but it is encouraged, sorry if your uniform patch is not excepted.

They have been running OK D-Day paintball event annually there for many many years Bob. It's an institution. I imagine in the first few years they had some people wear uniforms with political armbands or wave big red flags they caught flak from the public and had to put the damn damn down on it. Still the rule bugs me.

I'm more concerned that somebody actually has something called "The D-Day Adventure Park! " To me thats kinda disturbing to say the least... LOL...this is a joke... As an American reenactor, I take offense to the title "D-Day Adventure Park". This belittles or veterans and their achievements to nothing more than a walk in an amusement park. As such I would like all participants in this thread to place tape over their screens to cover the "D-Day Adventure Park" title. OK, joke over. Seriously tho, from a non German...tape??? Does the term Buzz kill mean anything to anyone? And what happens when that tape falls off in the humidity/field conditions? This just seems like more of a hassle than it's worth. (not that I was able to go in the first place...OK is damn far from NY) I might be a purist, but looking at past photos of events...check out the video of 2009 and the 2007 pictures. Um...wow. WW2 in name only.

I know I'm a bad bad man...Please understand that I'm not trying to undermine you in any way. I think it's great that your holding events and raising the bar and all.
Playing evil devil advocate...in the site's gallery, 2007 D-Day pictures...there are 2 Herr generals and a Panzer Officer. They look like they are sporting the swastica on their uniforms.
Is this a new PC development or has this always been in place?
Why are these guys special? Did I miss something? Am I a dick? How are babies made? What is the square root of 42 to the 10th decmal point? How many stiches does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll? are tootsie rolls authentic to the 1940 period?
Ok, I swear, I'm done. I will not rear my pugly head up on this one any more, promise. Good luck and I hope you have a great and fun event with many many people in attendance. I wish I could make it out to OK.

Sorry but I looked through the album and no one is wearing a Swastika as I can tell. www.ddayadventurepark.com/media/pics//29/1184184183_IMG_2209.JPG Now this the image your refurring to? I not trying to be mean here, if I came off that way to you I am truly sorry.

No, dude, not mean at all. Yes, that is the one. I can't really tell if they altered or modified the swasticas in the breast eagles or the eagles on the hat. But to me, it looks like that evil swastica.
I do notice the Panzer Captain (That is his rank right?) has a blacked out zwastica on his cap eagle.
Also, what about the awards? Can you even get them without the swastica? Infact, now that I look closer, the General on the far right is wearing an assault award. In this picture you can clearly see a swastica on it. So it's no swasticas for some things, but on the awards it's ok?
I'm not trying to be mean here either. I know this isn't your land to play on. But if them's the rules then make them ALL the rules, no halfsies.
Side note: I find the death's head to be more offensive than the swastica. The swastica was a national symbol. The death's head was a mark of those who truly believed in the cause of racial purity. They didn't give those to everyone, you had to take an oath to Hitler ONLY, not to the national defence or anything like that.
The Heer was just trying to do it's job, the SS were the ones to screw around. And even then, not the entire SS, only some portions of it. But you still took the same oath to defend Hilter as an SS man.
I don't mean to misrepresent anyone here. The SS existed then, so it should be repersented in the reenacting/airsoft ww2 world...we do need an evil backdrop to drop all those paratroopers on...lol.

We all know its silly to ban swastikas from an event as its just part of history and no one is trying to offend anyone. However its useless to talk about it here as the guy running the thread has no control over it.

Banning swastikas from WW2 events is like banning the Confederate battle flag from Civil War events! Oh wait...

Two things
First MSE ( Milsim Event ) puts on great OP's I went to Oklahoma Invasion this year and had a blast.
Second, Remember they are new to the whole WWII side of airsoft just like I am and all of you were at one time.

1. The 'No Swastika' rule is that of the venue, not MSE. 2. MSE does put on very good ops. 3. Don't give Yogi any grief, it is not warranted. He's just passing along the info. I know Yogi and he's a good egg. We've been on many ops together. I'll let him cover my 6 any day. 4. D-Day Adventure Park puts on really big p-ball events and great off-roading events. What othe facilities have a handful of buses, a dozen duece-and-a-halfs, 2 APCS, a bunch of 4WDs, and a half-track to rune players aroung the acreage? 5. You doubters just need to come and see. There will be players with great WWII kits and some with the bare minimum. In Oklahoma we aren't elitists or snobs. MSE's motto is 'By the Players, For the Players'. We just want to promote airsoft, which is a sport of honor and comraderie. Airsoft is not a sport for snobs or status seekers. 6. The is MSE's first WWII event, the more players that come this time, the more likely there will be a bigger, better event next year. 7. Airsoft events are meant to be fun. Face it, we're a bunch of over-grown 12-year olds playing Army. Even the 50+ veterans like me that were in the real poop. We're out there having fun and trying to pop our pals in the butt witth a plastic BB. So come out and have FUN. OK. Ive said my $0.02 worth. See you on the field, amigos. GOGGLES ON!!
