guitarmaster, Good start! First thing I would suggest, get those wrinkles out,
one thing I do (im too lazy to use an Iron) is use a spray bottle on mist setting (water). I get the shirt wet on all the wrinkles, and then wear it till it dries. This will greatly reduce the wrinkles, because as the water evaporates the fabric settles. You can also hang dry it, but iff its a nice warm sunny day, its best to move around in it to kill the wrinkles.
Keep it up! -Gordak

well...good start...but the khakis need the khaki overseas hat and standard khaki belt...also the stripes you have are what look like the gold/green bordered vietnam era stripes not the khaki drab/blue-black bordered WW2 ones.though many enlisted men may have private purchased dress shirts they probably wouln't have been able to get away with wearing an officer's shirt with epulettes....gordak can probably correct me if i'm wrong....and it's just my thing...but, maybe a haircut?i hate suggesting it since i got howled off another board for making the same suggestion....lol....

Looking good GM! In addition to what these guys have said, I suggest you hike the trousers a little higher I know it is kind of wierd at first but you will get used to it eventually. The second thing I would suggest isnt really a haircut but a hair modification. I suggetst you comb it to one side. Dont use gell or anything. Your hair down in front of your eyes looks unmilitary. Keep up the good work! Click

Guitar master, The khakis are post war hence the gold 50 to 60s stripe. Epaulets were supposed to be an officer item on uniform shirts early in the war but by wars end you saw enlisted with mustard shirts that had em as well. You can actually take the gold stripes and using a brown marking pen go over the gold for a reasonable effect toward a WW2 chevron. Certainly pass the 10 foot rule and look okay in pictures. Boots were typically only worn bloused byu airborne qualified troops and of course you know about dying your black boots brown.

Excellent photos! I'd say those are worthy of the stitch-nazi thread! I like how the white heart and the eagle really stand out.

I echo what Click says, get a bigger designation strip. Here is a picture i have stumbled across. I would say thats a good size.. .Otherwise it just looks funny with how you have it, and also not real noticable -Cary

Cary, in that picture it might just be a scarf cut off from a white chute, and those were used for multiple reasons... i have a feeling those guys aren't doing it for the battalion designation... i think its a souviner/scarf and they just had the white chutes when they jumped... most biggest suggestion is get a OD3 Pistol belt, OD7 was not common till Holland and it seems as your impression is a Normandy one, Get out and play in the mud alot... just play not purposly get muddy... make it look natural by just doing what they did... another thing i noticed is you have a infantry liner there not and airborne one. Also, your helmet net and scrim confuses me... it doesnt look like a helmet net at all... You should get a 3/4" OD7 (OD3 is also acceptable) and then put the scrim in... im not sure what you did. Also are those black jump boots? Now that i look close i see you have a M1956 Pistol belt, you need a M1936 Pistol belt. But not bad, no more east german shovel lmao! Keep it up.

Yeah, you need an airborne liner, preferably one from WWII cause you have a Korean era one. Looks like you have a german helmet net, based on the clips, get a OD3 or 7 net with the drawstring.
First aid pouch goes on the front, easier to get to, not overly important, but practical

I know that that its possibly not a designation, though. its odd that A both have them, B its pre Normandy jump, and C. I remember hearing that they were 502nd troopers, either way it was just to show him what i was talking about, the bigger would look better, since it would be easier to see. The small one he has I barely realised what it was until i thought a moment. -Cary

Doc Butzen Thanks, I am planning on fixing all those things fairly soon. The reason I have an M1 liner is because I found it in the prop room at my high school plays, and I asked the director of the show I was in if I could trade my vietnam loner for it, because he didn't know the difference and it really didn't matter to him. One more your suspenders should go straight down, so move them about 2 holes back on your belt. -Cary

The suspenders were worn anyway the trooper felt comfortable wearing them and photos show them every way imaginable on troops in the field. Put em on practiaclly anyway you like and you're fine. I think you look pretty darn strack and your hard work shows. Keep it up. Ilike the fact that you filled your pockets

I have a few personal items in my pockets but mostly its socks, underpants, and t-shirts. But it makes it look like I am loaded down with stuff. I forgot to ask, Why should my aid pouch be on the front, I have seenplenty of pics where guys have them on the back.

I've seen quite a few photos where the first aid pouch was towards, or directly behind the troop. It was all preference. If you thought something else was more important, you'd put that nearer the front.
