I saw the first t34 but that second video..... was awasome. Those were really cool triger t34 ba64. Im trying to get a pre 41 ford truck and I think I found one for sale to be a german troop truck. I am also looking for a ba64 conversion for my m606 jeep. Sv from the saint louis boards wants to import a 223 from great britian.

There is another guy on youtube building a 3/4 scale panzer IV. Why not 1/1 scale? Who knows maybe garage space. Man, if I can find the time someday..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynm2TdPgMvc

Aside from the enormous size and increased expense on every level the problem for both airsoft and paintball with a 1:1 scale is that a tank has a surprisingly sizeable dead space around it that are tactically not covered by guns. This close in space is the exploitable range that Infantry use to knock out a tank.
This area is relatively small compared to the range of actual firearms but would take up 1/2 to 3/4 of the range of paintball and airsoft weapon even on the best close-in armored vehicle. Essentially a tank would be relatively worthless on an airsoft battlefield for all intents and purposes as the only functional weapons they have at airsoft range are their tracks and that would not be much fun.
3/4 scale seems to me to be about the ideal. The vehicles in the Soviet film seemed pretty impressive and appear to be a scale that would work well visually and still function fairly well tactically. I like that most of these efforts seem to be making an effort to replicate the vehicles well. Typically paintball tanks have been god-awful bastardizations of armored vehicle and look hokey as hell.
I must say I do hate seeing all the splattered paint everywhere and it reminds me once again why I like airsoft.

Replica BREN Carriers on golf cart chassis may be just the ticket though...close to 1:1 scale.

The Soviet ones seem to be based on actual tracked vehicle chassis with the uppers cosmetically redone to look replicate actual vehicles. Well done and painted nicely. Very impressive.
I have always fantasized about making armored vehicles for airsofting.

Does anyone know what the mechanasim is that powers on track and stops another? There are many ways of doing this , but basically they all slow down one track which makes the tank turn in that direction , so if you slow down the left track , the right track will move faster and force the tank to make a left turn , if you want the tank to make a tighter faster turn you completely stop one track and speed up the opposite track.

Good point, makes sense and, with something that size now that I think about it it wouldn't have the same "sore thumb" factor a 3/4 size rifle or,mg would have.

Yes , one engine , either a big engine or an aircraft engine , but there is one engine on a tank . Yes and no. The Sherman and the M3/M5 light tanks were an exception. The original designs called for one radial aircraft engine (lots of horsepower in a reasonably compact package.) What they didn't count on was that they were competing for engines with the aircraft industry. The M5 used twin Cadillac V8's. Because so many Shermans were built, they were very clever in finding ways to use available engines. To get enough power out of the commercial engines of the time many Shermans used pairs of V8's. One of the more unusual variants used 5 Chrysler 6 cylinder engines hooked to a common shaft. Must have been a mechanic's nightmare. Later in the war purpose developed high power tank engines allowed them to get back to a single engine.

We need to get some vehicles. I know there is a few out there but still. I had a Idea. What about a three wheeler into a sdkf 1 kattenquad? I thought about this earlier but what do you all think. I got a cousin in the trade for cars and hes lookin out a pre 41 ford truck for me and anything he finds cool he calls.

As far as a simple build (at least from a carpentry stand point) would be a Hetzer aka Jagdpanzer 38(t).

From a practical point of view that is probably about the scale that would best facilitate airsoft in terms of armor. (firepower relative to range and dead space) Two or three of those coming at you with airsoft machine guns blazing would give one pause and relicate the sensation quite well. However even as modest as they are can you imagine the costs? He probably has $8,000 to 10,000 (or more) wrapped up in that vehicle.
For a German vehicle, A Hetzer would be an excellent choice due to the simplictic shape and the small overall size. This fellows Tetratank covered with foliage and a lot of exterior stowage would probably look pretty good.
