I was looking at BAR replicas and I found a websight called "cushmans paintball" I liked what I saw as the stuff was inexpensive and they had a page showing some of their guns as customized airsoft guns. One l was a BAR. With this Black Bear BAR not looking like it's coming, and low performance I thought I'd make my own. Does anyone no if cushmans makes quality stuff and if they are reliable? Thanks

Cushman replicas are simply vacuum-formed plastic sheets. They are only half-decent looking at a distance and would not likely hold up in the field.

Would they make a good mold to make a nicer one out of PVC or ABS? I don't have metal equipment so that isn't an option. My friend does though.

One of our members MGW used a cushman mold and did a BAR into an airsoft variant in fact his is the one posted on their site. It was a ton of work and he used resin fill to solidify the cheezy plastic throughout. The gun can't be readily disassembled as the fill is more or less permananently pressed in around the airsoft guts but as long as nothing breaks that's no big deal.
If you have a couple hundred hours of hobby time to spend it looks like a worthwhile approach but nothing that will look very good from close up. An easier approach would be to take an M14 and with some creative cutting and dyna glass two part resin filler sculpted just so you can end up with a end result on a parr with that effort for less cost. (Also stronger and more resilient.)
I have made four of them using this approach. My sons comment is "Dad they look good from afar but far from good." As you say until a reasonably price option becomes available it might be worth doing. Expect to invest perhaps $180 in materials and around 60 hours of time.

BTW, I bought the BAR from Cushman. All I'm using it for is to get the outline and dimensions. If anyone wants it, just pay the postage.
