To Charlie November, The one thing that is essential to this event is attendance. We are hoping to have at least 20 Germans (in addition to the 15 Blank fire guys), 15 to 20 Airborne and at least 10 Seaborne Infantry. I've been receiving a lot of PM questions and positive signs that attendance will be good. But actual registrations could be higher. Now with all things considered, I'm really reaching out to everyone interested in this event to get in your registrations. If there are any issues that will cause you to pass on this event, please PM me and perhaps we can work something out. Point here Gentlemen is that I feel we all owe it to one another to know if we are going to have the numbers for this game. The only way that is going to happen is with everyone's cooperation. If you can not make this event any reason other than you just don't want to go, please PM me. Migs I am sure if we can make this a big multi day event that we can attract people from long distances. I remember last year when Piper did his multi day event at FGF and the guys from Wisconsin showed up, what a good group of people from far away. Would be great if they felt the desire to join this event also if it was impressive enough to entice them to make the long drive. It would seem to me that the longer the event duration the farther people would be willing to travel. I know the original ideas for this event of night lights, large speakers with sounds, howitzer cannons, props and other effects was very enticing and if we continue along this path we might be able to attract people from far away like Wisconsin and boost attendance. Immersive means the whole package, the battles, the living, the camping and the night life. If we can immerse people in the whole life style that our ancestors had to endure during these wars, I believe people would be more interested in joining these events from far away if the long travel is counterbalanced by a long event. One of the things I have noticed is that most of us are into the authenticity of the event. The Airsoft part is secondary. So while it is a lot of fun to go out there and fight against each other, it is also fun to set up authentic camps, headquarters and props to enjoy after the battles. I believe this is what made last years FGF event attract people from long distances with the realistic camping sites, night fires and so forth. I believe this June event could to be on the same track and could garnish great attendance with the same kind of immersive theme. Just my 2 cents and as always am willing to help out in anyway I can, just ask .

You've hit it right on the head JP. I do think this event has the potential to accomplish all of that and more.
What we have planned so far is the Blank fire re-enactors occupying several positions throughout the field to disperse their group so we would always have a live gun at each position. They will have at least two Howitzer positions, a defensive position w/ a MG-42 firing down on our Utah beach in addition to their mobile communication tent. They are also bringing a downed tail section to a Glider which will add to a separate mission for the Allies.
Piper is also bringing one of his 105mm from last years game with him. So to say the least, the Allies will have plenty of German positions throughout the field to engage.
I will be setting up the assembly area (unknown at first) for the paratroopers which will serve as a Batt H.Q. and a B.A.S. (Batt aid station). There we will have a command tent which will contain spare ammo, water and supplies. There will also be a fire pit to which I will be bringing firewood with me. (no need to gather wood in the dark)
I will also be making at home and then assembling at the field a landing craft (Higgins Boat) for the Seaborne Infantry to enter the battle from and also re-spawn from.
I've encouraged everyone to come to the field by early afternoon on Saturday for set up, briefing and socializing. Germans and paratroopers will be camping in the playing field where seaborne infantry will camp by the parking lot.
Since Lester informed me about the lights via a generator, I think the anti-aircraft noise and strobe lights are definitely gonna happen. I will be purchasing and distributing strobes to the Germans to replicate anti-aircraft muzzle flashes for effect and orientation for the paratroopers.
Steve (HornetSwo) and his buddy Chris will be making a sand table of the field for the paratroopers.
With all of this in place, I can't see this event not being great. The paratroopers reap the benefits of the night fighting, but honestly I think the seaborne infantry will have just as much fun fighting their way off Utah beach. But all in all, this is a full day and a half immersion.
And what's better than being a German firing your big guns on Utah beach or if your one of the lucky ones that gets to fire at the landing force on the beach from the elevated positions you'll be occupying.
Allied forces will have several objectives throughout the day and I think we'll have some really good fighting. Perhaps the Germans will re-write history and repel the seaborne infantry and force them back into the sea.
I know the event is almost three months away, but I would really like to see more chatter and people committed to it via registrations. I have been in touch with additional blank fire re-enactors who have expressed an interest in attending as airsoft players, which is very encouraging as I'm hoping to expand our numbers. What better way to turn these blank fire guys onto our hobby than to have them attend our show case event.
I have received a lot of offers to help out from several of our members to which I am ever so grateful, but the best way anyone can help all of us out, is to register and show up.
So everyone, please cast your vote on the date poll, get you registration in and get pumped up for the event of the year!
Cheers, Migs

One more feature we could add to the game is the "new" town Lester will be constructing in place of the village.
It could be designated St. Mere-eglise or Carentan.
Cheers, Migs

I like what I am hearing. What you guys are organizing sounds extremely well thought out and full of great surprises. For those of us that may not surf the entire ww2aa board, I was not aware there was a voting poll going on for the dates. Thanks for mentioning it. Just in case there are others out there that are just monitoring this thread please go to ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=northeasternus&thread=8473&page=1 to cast your vote on the best dates. Sorry if this is redundant but I figured if I did not know maybe others might be in the same position

GREAT NEWS! I just got off the phone with the senior editor from Take Aim Airsoft magazine. He wants to do a story on our Call to Arms series for his May-June issue.
This will encompass our Colmar Pocket Event, the upcoming Day of Days event and the other events we have tentatively scheduled for the remainder of this year.
This is a great opportunity to advertise and promote our hobby.
I'll fill you all in as he and I go along.

We are still in need of Seaborne Infantry for this event. In an effort to better explain what the Seaborne Infantry's role will be, please bare with me and feel free to ask questions for clarification.
To start off with, cost for Seaborne Infantry is $45.00 oppose to the $85.00 Airborne is paying. This is because Seaborne will be fighting on Sunday only as Airborne will be fighting Saturday night and Sunday.
Seaborne is welcomed and encouraged to come Saturday, camp out and be ready for their landings sunday morning. If you are doing Seaborne and wish to arrive Sunday morning, you must do so by 0800 hours as the landings will begin no later than 0900 hours.
To reenact the Utah beach landings, Seaborne Infantry will load up in a LCVP Higgins boat HornetWSO and I will be building. This functional landing craft will be able to hold 6 to 8 soldiers exiting through a drop down bow ramp, just like in Saving Private Ryan. What will be waiting for them is sheer carnage. The Germans will be positioned on the high ground about a 150 yards or so away firing down on them with their airsoft MG-42's as well as the blank fire unit firing their real MG-42!
Seaborne's mission will be to make their way off the beach and link up with the Airborne Units. Needless to say, this element of the event will be one of the most difficult and most enjoyable of the days event.
For those of you who are familiar with GZA field, this will take place in the fire base area. Seaborne will land in the near left corner of the field, while the Germans will occupy the high ground directly across from the landings. Seaborne will make their way through the sand and trenches trying their best to get off that beach.
So let's get those Seaborne volunteers rolling.

You mean that after fighting all night against the Yanks, we are going to be met in the morning with a whole slew of fresh American troops!!! Not feeling too good about our chances. Come on Axis, start getting those registrations in, we are going to need all the support we can get. Many targets out there

Noooooooooooo,
There are plenty of just infantry players out there.
In fact, this is the first time my son and I are going as Airborne. I'm hoping to have at least 10 infantry players participating.
And just for clarification, originally the event was just Airborne only. After discussing this with several members, we felt it wasn't fair to anyone who would want to play in this event but doesn't have/can't afford an Airborne impression. Therefore, adding this new dimension to the game enables ALL impressions to qualify. What it also does is open up the event to those who don't want to or can't camp out on Saturday night. For Infantry players, it will be like all other events as far as time wise. Show up in the am, fight all day and then go home.
Everyone I have spoken to about this added feature seems to think it's gonna be awesome, I'm just hoping we get the numbers to pull it off. I can assure you all you won't want to miss all the GI's coming down the ramp from the Higgins boat we're building on site. But to make this happen, we need the players.
Let's go guys, what are you all waiting for?
Airborne: Sat night and Sunday. Cost $85.00 Germans: same. Cost $45.00 French Resistance: same. Cost $45.00 Allied Infantry: Sunday only. Cost $45.00
