First off I want to thank Brandon for a job well done. Everything went off very well and I really appreciate all the time and energy he put into this.
I look forward to many more events.
As for the battle, the snow was completely unexpected but definitely added a lot to the match. Trudging through the snow for just a few hours today really gave me an appreciation of what those brave men went through during the real battle.
After I fell backwards into a sink hole I turned to my CO and said "I think I'm gonna get trench foot Capt." Now I know how Joe Toye felt in Band of Brothers ;D.
I thought the fighting flowed well and all things and elements considered, the game was a complete success.
Well done Brandon.

Just looked at the pictures. Looks like it was a lot of fun. Wish we could have made it. I am astonished that Photobuckets censored some of the pictures. What it is this world coming to, I thought we lived in a free country???
Looking forward to sparing with you all in June. Very happy that Brandon has taken the lead on this.

The pictures do look awesome! We really are looking better than ever.
The Ice and snow, that often gave way to a 3 foot plunge into subterainian swamp made movement hard as hell. The german side had alot of weapons functionality issues. It seemed a bunch of troopers were lacking wool socks.
We were lucky with the weather otherwise.
I remmember last time I had a WW2 game in this sort of weather, we were out of action and heading home by noon LOL. So Bravo guys for slugging it out like you did!

The day began with Captain Hildner leading the allied attack against the German forces led by Luitnant Johnson. German forces in the city soon found many of their weapons to be faulty possibly due to factory sabotage by slave laborers and were forced to abandon their heavy support weapons. The allied forces pushed in from the front of the city and were able to reach the city outskirts quickly to begin clearing the rest of the city. A bloody house to house fight ensued causing heavy casualties on both sides. The Germans were eventually forced out of the city and began to organize for a counter attack against the allied forces but soon found the withering enemy fire too much and were forced to pull back.
After the assault on Colmar high command realized that the snowy conditions in the area as well as the high casualties from taking colmar would prevent a further push into the nearby countryside and the main battle plan was quickly changed. Finding themselves too low on ammunition and men to successfully hold the city against another counter attack, Allied forces withdrew from the city they had just taken in order to regroup and refit. The Germans took this opportunity to move back into the city and prepare for the allies to return to once again attack Colmar.
Captain Hildner was again tasked with moving his men into Colmar and set out for another frontal assault on the city. German forces were able to repulse wave after wave of allied troops pouring into the city. Luitnant Johnson was informed by German high command to fall back out of the city to consolidate forces and he would then be tasked with retaking the city from the Americans.
After refitting and rearming his troops Luitnant Johnson led his men against the allies trudging through the snow to take back what was once theirs. Captain Hildners men had other plans for the Germans and put up stiff resistance against multiple assaults on the allied positions within the city. After a long and arduous fight the Germans withdrew to fight the Americans another day leaving the city of Colmar in allied hands but this victory was not easy and left both sides with heavy casualties. The battle for Colmar was a decisive blow to the Germans and left the allies one step closer to victory over the Third Reich.
I would like to start by saying thanks for everyone that showed up and made this such a fun event! Our headcount was very strong and both teams were pretty much even. In the end the Allied forces pulled through with a victory but only by a mere 50 points! This was my first time running a world war two themed airsoft event and I hope to use my experience from this game to run games in the future. Please post up anything you really enjoyed or areas where I can improve future events to make them more enjoyable for everyone. I look forward to seeing you all on the field again soon!

Thanks for AAR Rapture, I think people had to be there to know how tough it was to move, half the time on Ice the other half in water up to your knee.
Yes the Beretta is functional, and Infact I offerd him an Mp44 later on and he refused it, sayign the beretta was working great. Its an AGM mp40 gearbox using Marui Uzi high cap mags, all placed in an original parts kit.

Rapture did a fine job and gets accolades for stepping up and moving the WW2AA forward!! His AAR was spot on, so I wont have too much more to add. That was my first time skirmishing in that much snow. I have to admit it really impacted movement and prevented any type of complicated maneuvering. Tactics needed to be kept simple. Supporting fire and coordinated attacks. Our first push on the Town was made with fresh troops eager to locate, close with, and destroy the enemy. We were able to breach the town and clear it house to house. I was waiting for the inevitable counter attack. When it came, it became apparent the Germans were loosing momentum due to fact we had taken their cache of ammo and mobile stretcher aid station, thus preventing rapid respawning. Our second push started with good intention, but the environmental had worn us down a little and we found it hard to nimbly fire and maneuver. It became apparent we needed artillery to open the door. Unfortunately we had problems with the gas bazooka and were forced to use Rifles and grenades. Personally I found each time I shifted weight to throw a grenade, my foot would break through the snow, which resulted in poor throws. The Germans held fast and let Father Winter act as a force multiplier. The last round found the Allies holding Colmar. I was pretty confident that if the Germans tried to flank us, and if we could hold the first push, then the town would be ours. I was counting on the snow to aid our defense. My thoughts were; the more they attacked, the more worn out they would become. This is what happened, at least from my perspective. Lessons learned: - Supporting Assault Troops could have punched a hole in the towns defenses, aka bazooka hits would have given us a foot hold to launch house to house clearing.
- Terrain and weather dictates the battle plan and needs to be incorporated into the battle plan.
- Cold = poor moral which impacts the troops ability to fight effectively
All in all I was proud the way all rallied to fight the elements and the enemy. I had a great time and cant wait to meet again! EOT

Nice pictures of the event and nice after action. Yes, snow is very interesting to play in. I really like the winter games. For some of you it was new but I know there have been winter games out East and so others were plenty acclimated to the problems that crop up. You guys look good.

do you who put the beretta together? I tempted to buy the parts kit to make one and would be delighted to pay a competent and trustworthy source the needed fee to make the build?
for that matter I have a sten mk 4 and dummy mk5 set that I would love converted to a working mk5 if anyone has done it
