It's just to much to just shrug off, I mean come on. Is this supposed to entice us to join the Luftwaffe?? Seriously people... someone has to stop this phenomina of Cute chicks in ww2 uniforms! Well to better understand this evil, I have taken it upon myself to collect as many of these pictures as possible! UPDATE! Wow! That is alarming. I'm sure you are HARD at work on your investigation and knowing you, you'll be UP for the task. If you ever do get to the BOTTOM of this affair, we'd all be interested in the details.

I'm 15, shes just not my cup of tea. I prefer a girl with a little more meat and chest. I'm not picky but like this would be beyond perfect. Thats not my standard that would be like if i won the lottery. and yes, these girls voluntarily got these pictures published in Vans/transworld magazine so its not a crime or something to put it up here. ;D And call it crazy but i'm not a fan of such consealing third-riech wool uniforms. Haha but thats just my two cents and im not pissing my self over this matter, i just puttin this out here. And Yes. peter that's ECSC and if you just can't stand it you can blow me.

Although, You are using the term "Cute" not "attractive" and I guess I don't know if she was like a Guy on a short bus and giggled I would have sympathy for her and therefore find something cute and somewhat emotional. Kind a like when the guy from the movie "radio" was riding his shopping cart and my mom was like "That's so cute". and for the sake of it hehe ;D

That video is interesting, as much for the subtle but palpable bias as anything else. The reporter has an arrogant false objectivity that in fact masks a very tangible prejudice against his subject. For instance, both he and the German historian complain that re-enactments "lack context" and don't reference the Holocaust... just how many aspects of the greatest struggle in the history of mankind do they expect to be explored in a single weekend on a single field? Do they expect frontline soldiers to demonstrate the loading of humans on to a cattle car, something that was done by other people thousands of miles away? If so, then why are the Americans not condemned for neglecting the important history of WACS and WAVES on desk duty back home? Are the Americans guilty of sexism in their "lack of context" for not having 200 women in uniform clacking away on typewriters at the event (they helped win the war too, ya know!)?
Most to the point, are they ignorant of the fact that 99% of the attendees are there precisely because they already KNOW the context, don't need it explained to them, and are interested in learning about the minute details of WWII combat in greater depth? It would be like criticizing a graduate level microbiology textbook for assuming you know what mitosis is, or because it refuses to discuss other natural sciences that deserves mention, such as astronomy.
Films like "The Longest Day" and "A Bridge Too Far" lack context too, and in no way, shape, or form mention the Holocaust. Even a more modern film like "Saving Private Ryan" makes no more than the most oblique and passing reference to Hitler's hatred of Jews, and none whatsoever to the "final solution." Should these interpretations of WWII (all decidedly anti-German) be condemned as pro-Nazi, too?
Just amazing.

I agree fully. To me they were making a sensation story out of nothing. As much as I don't want to portray or collect anything SS,I think its all about the uniforms and being an elite force. If they want to portray SS with no sinister intentions, more power to them. There are quite a few threads (a couple here I see too) about this subject but usually leads to bickering.Me personally as long as you don't downplay their atrocities and conduct and just go on doing reenactment or airsoft events then its perfectly OK.People go to these events to watch tanks, uniforms, and guns blazing, not SS shooting down civilians. That would be the last thing I want to see and extremely tasteless. One must still remember the fallen whether it be from combat or from atrocities.

I'd love to see his standards of "providing context" and telling the most unsavory non-combat-related aspects of conflicts applied to other re-enactors:
-- In WWII re-enactments, any non-whites fighting on the American side need to be segregated into separate "blacks only" units. GI's will be expected to provide context by recalling the internment of Japanese-Americans stateside.
-- In the Civil War, of course the Rebs need to make sure slavery is addressed. But Union troops will need to impress upon the public Lincoln's turning the "free" states into a police state by suspending habeas corpus. Not to mention making sure everyone knows about the virtual slave labor of 12 year old (or younger) girls working 14 hour shifts in New England textile mills for pennies to feed the war effort.
-- No Redcoat can take the field in a Revolutionary War re-enactment without giving a detailed explanation of the English global slave trade.
Or, maybe, we could all just lighten up a bit, enjoy watching a lot of guns popping off and smoke and cool vehicles and stuff, and get our "context" from history books.
