Hey! sometime this week I will be receiving my CYMA M14, can't wait! After a couple of airsoft wars with my friends im going to convert it to a garand. I have some questions.
How do i make a garand conversion without buying a kit? Do i have to work on the bolt a little? (i noticed the piece connected to the charging handle extends and is a different shape than the Garand) How do i make mags for it that dont stick out? Do i have to do some changes to the stock? Do i have to do some changes to the reciever? Any information would be very helpful!
Thanks!

I don't. Everything you're asking about is here in the technical sections under Garand and then some. Spend some time looking and all will be there. If you're unable or unwilling to put the effort and time in doing that it is EXTREMELY doubtful you'll manage the conversion. That way all of this info or at least parts of it won't have to be rehashed and replicated. Do you get what I am saying?

Basically, if you think you are going to get a step by step guide on this thread it ain't gonna happen. However, over 90% of the info you need already exists in other threads. The other 10% is going to require some creativity and the ability to figure out how to repair your latest screwup. Someone told you how to use shorter mags and there is a guide on exactly how to make those mags work in your "M1" Please post some photos of your progress. I've alread purchased a M1 Garand stock just in case I decide to make one myself. Good luck on yours.

I need to refrain from posting when it's late and I have been on the road for 12 hours!
In no way am I trying to discourage anyone from taking this on. Its a fun and relatively easy conversion and can be done on both a simple and elaborate level. My only point is there are pretty much step by step tips and suggestions sprinkled throughout the web site and finding them requires little effort and time. far less than you'll extend doing the conversion itself.
I would guess that well over 100 people have done their own M1 garand conversions with many of them as members of this web site. Post pictures if you're unclear on something and many folks will reply with suggestions or tips.
The key things is be sure your base rifle is a Marui or Marui clone (Cyma, AGM, UTG, TSD, Kart etc) Be sure it's a full length version and while it's probably best to use a simulated wood stock version it is by no means essential.
Enhancing the stock is a huge step up with regard to authenticity but absolutely an option as is the removal of the selector switch and charging handle brace. Using original parts is the ideal and SGT Tom has provided links as to what those are. These require some adaptation to facilitate fit but nothing terrible sophisticated.
I'm a fan of removing the butt plate flap and filling the gaps in which provides a very good looking butt plate area or an actual Garand butt plate can be used (Although the full sized batteries won't slip through the trap door)
Good luck. You'll enjoy the process I am sure.

Oh I thought you meant internally. What part of the bolt is messed up/broken? A picture would help. Anyways it shouldn't stop you from starting the conversion. How does it shoot though?

Their choice I guess. It would help if you could get me a picture of the piece or a picture pointing to the piece.

Yes they have springs in them. I am guessing it is just locking into place. Also garnett502ndpir, yes the CYMA M14 does have a bolt that can be pulled back and forth.
helterskelter68, How is it broken? Is something literally cracked or does the bolt just not function right? I guess it doesn't matter much if your returning it though.

im starting to think im Guy on a short bused.... the gun doesn't have a bolt release meaning the bolt wont thrust forward once you pull it back, right?

On the Marui style M14s the bolt should pull back and slam forward. I have seen some that break at the tubular point where the "charging handle gas tube" screws into the bolt handle assembly (It's actually the tube part that breaks but it's not an easy fix.) I have also seen a few guns that get dropped and the knob for the charging handle itself breaks off. Because these are pock metal they don't really repair well unfortunately. Good luck! Hope everything is in fact okay.

thanks 2nd Bat! everything seems to be fine. the bolt just tends to stick when pulled back. but i got the "limited edition" real wood CYMA M14. its probably nicer than any gun i've seen. will start conversion soon, thanks for all the help guys!
