Has anyone ever thought of welding some metal plates with firing ports and maybe a few cannons to make a airsoft battleship? Then we could have a Kriegsmarine v. Royal Navy or USA v. Japan, ect. Just a thought.

Seems like it would be so unrealistic it would just be plain silly.

I recently read a very good book, "Neptune's Inferno" by James D. Hornfischer. It's about the surface battles around Guadalcanal during the Solomons campaign. Tell ya what. I'd much prefer being in a very deep foxhole anywhere than on any WWII navy ship slugging it out with another ship. The carnage those naval guns caused was unbelievable.

Yes those 16 inch naval guns can really tear stuff up. I've been on the U.S.S. Alabama in Mobile, Al. and was fortunate enough to get there when they still had some of the smaller turrets operational(As in you could adjust traverse and elevation). I believe the only turrets you can adjust on the Alabama now are the 20mm Bofors AA MG and a few of the 5 inch AA guns. I would still like to see a airsoft battleship. All you would have to do is take a John Boat or something a little larger and make some metal turrets and a faux smoke stack. To take it out you use a Coastal Artillery piece, to simulate explosion and destruction crew pops smoke grenades on the boat. Safety would be a majorconcern.
