Ok, so I'm in the process of piecing a USMC kit. I have 2 questions:
1) Did the 782 haversack have attachment hooks built into the straps? I'm almost positive that they did, but I don't want to buy M1941 suspenders if the 782 pack has hooks on it already.
2) Would Marines usually wear P41's more often than P42's after P42's were issued? (I hope I worded that ok)
Also, any other tips would be nice.

(I hope I worded that ok) Also, any other tips would be nice. Just a side note, the term "782" refers to all USMC field issue gear. The form that is used in the Marine Corps is DDForm782, hence the term "782". Regarding the M1941 Haversack pack straps, you can rig them onto the bottom of the pack. If you are doing WWII USMC, you will surly want the M1941 suspenders, you can find these relatively cheap online. Early in the war the Pattern 1941 dungaree's were issued to the Marines for a working utility uniform, and were found to be a pretty good battle utility. By the time the Marines landed at Tarawa, the Pattern 1942 camouflage pattern was used widely. After Tarawa it was being phased out. By 1944, a new pattern utility was being issued based off the pattern '41, with large internal pockets for flotation bladders for landings, but were widely called "grenade" pockets. War being war, Marines wore what was at hand, and by the end of the war, you saw a widely mixed bunch of uniforms from Army HBT's to all the flavors of the USMC HBTs. Hope this helps.

I would use the p41 uniform just cuz it was the most generic out of all of the uniforms used by the marines.

Any ideas on where to get some for a reasonable price? I usually stick to ATF, but they've been out of stock for awhile.
