While they were not as prevalent as the French Resistance, the Belgian Resistance known as "Réseau de Résistance" (or Resistance Network "RR") took on various roles in the region such as sabotaging German installations to rescuing downed allied fliers. And as most of the Rail traffic from Northern Germany to France traveled through Belgium, "RR" fighters provided the Allies with intelligence on troop and material movements in addition to their sabotage of the rail lines.

Resistance fighters from both Belgium and Luxembourgh launched savotage and combat operations against German Forces during the Ardennes offensive, nothing big and worth a paragraph on history books, but big in the eyes of the people who took part in them.

Thank you all for your input regarding the Resistance Fighters.
The Resistance fighters for this event will have several purposes. They will report on German troop movements, help locate any ammo/supply drops and harass and disrupt German forces.
Like I previously mentioned in another post, the resistance fighters from "Day of Days" probably saw some of the best action and most memorable skirmishes of the event. This event will probably play out the same.
Any Resistance fighters that are captured or caught with weapons by the Germans may be subject to arrest and summarily executed.
Resistance fighters can stash their weapons and pose as ordinary citizens of Bastogne, or take to the woods armed and conduct covert missions. This will all be coordinated with the U.S. CO.
Hope this clears up any confusion as to what and why we will be having Resistance fighters for this event.

will there be any heavy weapons It's safe to save their will be the following heavy weapons at this event: Panzerfuast MG-42 Browning .30cal Bazooka and if Big Ed makes the trip, we'll have some mortars. Of course, the grenades will be there to always add a nice touch.

Regarding grenades I can assume the thunder B's with the pineapple shells would be acceptable?

Regarding grenades I can assume the thunder B's with the pineapple shells would be acceptable? Yes Thunder B's are fine. Personally I had a Thunder B and found it to be unreliable. The Grenades we've been using are light weight, reliable and you can chuck them a nice distance relative to a tennis ball throw. But either way, their OK to use.

To the U.S.A. Commander of the encircled town of Bastogne. The fortune of war is changing. This time the U.S.A. forces in and near Bastogne have been encircled by strong German armored units. More German armored units have crossed the river Our near Ortheuville, have taken Marche and reached St. Hubert by passing through Hompre-Sibret-Tillet. Libramont is in German hands. There is only one possibility to save the encircled U.S.A. troops from total annihilation: that is the honorable surrender of the encircled town. In order to think it over a term of two hours will be granted beginning with the presentation of this note. If this proposal should be rejected one German Artillery Corps and six heavy A. A. Battalions are ready to annihilate the U.S.A. troops in and near Bastogne. The order for firing will be given immediately after this two hours' term. All the serious civilian losses caused by this artillery fire would not correspond with the well known American humanity. The German Commander. "To the German Commander, "Nuts!" The American Commander." Attachments:

Yes, that is correct. The U.S. forces will have a camp area set up in the "Village" area of the field which will be designated as "Bastogne". Most of us will have half shelters and pup tents set up in a court yard type area of the village. On Friday, March 9th, I will be there with several others setting up the area. Glad to hear your unit is coming with some good numbers. We are all looking forward to meeting you and your members. Happy New Year!

Start getting your registrations and prepayments in. With the event a little over 2 months away. Now is the time to start getting your registration and prepayments in. Prepayments will be closed at midnight on Feb. 10th. Registrations will be open until March 8th, but will still be accepted at the field for walk ups. The reason for the deadline being 4 weeks prior to the event is because the field owner (GZA) has changed the terms for us to secure the field. Remember, prepayments are $55.00 and at the field is $70.00. Please send your registration and paypal payment to SfcMigs@gmail.com. Also, don't forget to get in your grenade orders as well. All Grenades are $10.00. Pre-orders for Grenades will be closed on Feb. 10th as well.

22 December 1944 Bastogne, Belgium With word of the Malmedy Massacre spreading quickly through the Allied lines, the mood in Bastogne was one of somberness and revenge. In response to the slaughter of 80 U.S. POW’s near Malmedy, the beleaguered U.S. Commanders ordered all German SS Officers and Paratroopers shot on site. But this was not their most pressing issue. U.S. Forces in the town of Bastogne were completely surrounded by forces of the German Army. Elements of the 2nd Panzer Division, XLVII Panzer Corps and the 26th Volksgrenadier Division had surrounded the town the previous day. The U.S 101st Airborne Division and Combat Command B of the 10th Armored Division were assigned to defend the town. Conditions inside the perimeter were tough—most of the medical supplies and medical personnel had been captured. Food was scarce, and by 22 December ammunition was restricted to 10 rounds per gun per day. Despite determined German attacks, the perimeter held. The German commander, Generalleutnant Heinrich Freiherr von Lüttwitz, requested Bastogne's surrender. When General Anthony McAuliffe, acting commander of the 101st, was told of the Nazi demand to surrender, a frustrated McAuliffe responded "Nuts!" After turning to other pressing issues, his staff reminded him that they should reply to the German demand. One officer (Harry Kinnard, then a Lieutenant Colonel) recommended that McAuliffe's initial reply would be "tough to beat." Thus McAuliffe wrote the line he made famous: "NUTS!" The reply had to be explained to the German Officers waiting for a response. Lt. Col. Harper told them, "If you don't know what 'Nuts' means, in plain English it is the same as 'Go to Hell'. And I'll tell you something else, if you continue to attack we will kill every god dam German that tries to break into this city." And so our event begins……………………..

Gentlemen,
I know these are the "dog days of January" and everyone is getting over the holiday hangovers, but we have to start stepping up and get those registrations and payments in. To date we have a very poor number that needs to increase very soon.
Remember to take advantage of the early payment option by sending your payment via paypal to: SfcMigs@gmail.com.
Like I previously mentioned, GZA as changed the terms (in a bad way) for us to rent the field for the two days (Sat. & Sun.) and two nights (Fri. & Sat.) we require. In order to have this event, registrations and a significant number of early payments are necessary to secure the field.
We have had a lot of chatter on these boards regarding this event and a nice number of you have stated that you are going to attend. That is great, but we now need everyone to take it to the next step and get those registrations/payments in.
Thank you all for your attention and cooperation.
Joe Migs

Just bought the ICS Grease Gun and am very excited to use it in Bastogne! Gun shoot hard and accurate and will be a welcome addition.
Start getting your cold weather gear together, I'm putting the finishing touches on my cold weather kit : shelter halves, wool blankets, trench coats, wool gloves, wool scarf, wool sweater, jeep cap, and some overboots. Not sure if I'll be able to move, but at least I wont freeze to death!
I also have a wood burning camp stove that will keep coffee, cocoa, and soup hot a ready for all during the event.
I'm getting excited!!
