"I am Neil Wittrock, and I will be your C.O. I worked at Consolidated Papers on the Rewind machine before the war. Pearl Harbor was bombed but I did not enlist, I felt there were enough volunteers, and that the home front needed me more. The government thought otherwise, and I was drafted fairly early on. The rest is a long story, and I don't wish to bore you with the details. I just hope to see you guys soon in the field!"
What you saw there was an example of the 1st persona, something I'd like to see a little more of in the future. I could write up a whole big manifesto about how the 45th is going to be the best of the best and how we're going to kick some Kraut ass, but that is not what I'm shooting for anymore. When you get that mentality, you stop taking hits so you can win. WWII airsoft isn't about winning, its about portraying the vets accurately and bringing your division honor. Sure, we certainly will be using squad tactics; sure, we will be using hand signals; and sure, if you show up in a paint ball jersey we will chase you off the field with period authentic knives. ;D But what we're shooting for above all is to give the veterans of the 45th the respect and honor they deserve. My grandfather served in this unit in Korea, that is what compelled me to start this unit, and it is what continues to motivate me to serve with the 45th patch on my left shoulder.
If I haven't scared you away yet, I'd suggest you visit our forums, where you can also find our unit doctrine, which tells you a little bit more about us. If you are a Wisconsinite, great! However, we do have members in Minnesota and Illinois, I would just like to see the 45th try to get more centralized in Wisconsin so it isn't a major logistical nightmare trying to get together for events.
