I have looked with much effort, and have not found anything on the matter. Anybody know what the goggles that jeep drivers wore on their helmets are called? Also, do you think they would serve as good eye protection in airsoft? Thanks in advance. Here is a picture from Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway

SWD goggles. They used them up to very recently in the military and not much was changed over the years. You can buy a "Ballistic" Lens for them(it actually says ballistic on the lip of the lens.) that will easily withstand a pointblank shot from a +500fps rifle. If you demonstrate that to the field owner where you are playing they may let you use them. They are not ANSI rated mainly due to the fact that they are not flame resistant as well is my understanding. I did a bit of research on it a few years back and that is what I remember from it. Should you go this route you are responsible for testing these lenses yourself don't just take my word on it.

The ones ones the BIA picture look like Polaroid 1021 all purpose goggles. I have a couple pairs of those. Other than looking good on a helmet they don't have any function.
IIRC M1944 goggles with their much larger viewing are and their post war variations were used up until the 1970's but they are more of a very late (e.g November 1944) war goggle.

m1944 goggles were not common until the fall of 1944. Ive seen a couple of photos of US paratroopers wearing them on their helmets during Market Garden.

I forgot about USAAF B8 goggles, plenty of paratroopers wearing those in period pics during Normandy, Market-Garden, Varsity. Look very similar to M44 / SWD goggles but the viewing area is somewhat smaller.

neither the WW2 wind goggles or the helmet goggles have lenses adequate for our purposes (especially given that most are brittle and old). With current inserts they should be just fine. With that said they fog horribly and frankly were so uncommonly worn in WW2 that they really wont add much to authenticity from a visual perspective.
