Okay guys so I live about 30 minutes away from a military surplus. I just went there today because I was looking for some jump pants for my 101st ABD impression. What I found there were not pants but a whole tub of real used WW2 equipment! I was looking around in it and found a canteen cover (bought), a canteen (bought), a pistol belt, and an M1 Garand sling. I gave him my phone number and whenever he gets something WWII he notifies me! All in all, in the end I'll have a real, used, 101st ABD uniform! But I was wondering, should I buy this M1 Garand sling? I'm currently working on a Springfield and was not sure if the Springfield sling was the same as the M1's. Please answer Best Regards, -Scott

I believe the leather sling was used on M1's and M1903's.

For rifle slings, the M1907 leather sling was used on both the M1903 and M1. Later on, the M1 web sling was also used.
Some Marines also used Kerr no-buckle slings that they purchased

Its an ok price depending on condition. I paid $15 for a good OD one at the gun show.
