Awesome news for the 1903, but the description for the k98 sounds dangerously like a shell-ejector.

Not again! you would think that these companies would do some research on what people think of the guns they are about to clone! Sounds like just another D-boys flop!

The Springfield is a CO2 powered offering from S&T? (never heard of them). And it is pre order at a reasonable price. (323.00 USD plus shipping). it is 6mm and features a 10 round clip that holds a 6 gram CO2 cartridge. No word on FPS. Anxious to see this released and hear some first hand reports. Bolt action CO2 gas guns have promise and should be skrmishable. This appears to be mag loaded as per the Tanaka K 98 and latest group of offerings

S&T made the Ares Clone PPSH41. IMHO a pretty good gun.

That is encouraging. In fact my friend at AEX said the S&T version of the PPSH was the best in terms of reliability and value. There is so much coolness to stay on top of these days.

Still no release or projeced delivery date on the M1903. obviously it will be good to see some first hand reports on these once out but for now just nice to hear there are plans to offer them.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMfxc77Udk8Here's a video I found on youtube, with the S&T Kar98k in it. I haven't seen them anywhere yet but I guess they do exist. As said before though, it's a failure ...

the GnG booth at shot show had a poster and promotional material on their Co2, nine round, M1903 which appears to be their branded version of the S&T gun discussed. nothing on pricing or release date.

What I dont get is that if the m1903 is gas powered why the would they not just make the K98 gas powered also. It blows my mind, like what were they thinking!

I've never used a shell ejector type weapon, so if you could please elaborate why it is a failure.

The shell ejector type airsoft guns (Dboys k98) all use hollow shells that hold one bb each in the tip of the shell. These shells are then loaded into the internal magazine of the weapon, like you would an actual firearm. Then just chamber a shell, fire and cycle; and an empty shell is ejected from the 'breech'. Sound great so far? Well the shells cause leaks at both ends, and damage from dropping the shells can multiply the leaks ten fold. If they are like the Dboys k98, then they have a 2 piece barrel which also leaks, and causes the accuracy to be the equal of a fistful of bbs thrown from 50'. To top it all off, shells are around $20 for 5.
For realisms sake they are awesome! But for skirmishability, they are junk. They do their best work as a wallhanger.

Also to add about the dboys, atleast on mine the shells get stuck in the front of the gun and wont eject and am forced to pry them out with a paint can opener! real pain!

Nice but I think I am going to hold off buying an S&T and get the G&G Springfield, perfect for building my USMC Guadalcanal early war load out.

If there have been, that Springfield is not accurate for those battles. I'm getting nitpicky over it but it would have to be a 1903a1 and the S&T one is a 1903a3. The A3's didn't come into play until WWII

Received my S&T Kar98 from Evike this weekend, after a 4 month wait. Interestingly, Evike is no longer listing the gun for sale as of today, 1/6/14!!
I was not expecting much, given the low price and bad press the pundits have been throwing S&T's way.
Frankly, and extremely surprisingly, I have thus far been EXTREMELY pleased with S&T Kar 98's performance. I kid thee not - the rifle I have in my hands, functions very smoothly with very, very positive feeding, ejection of cartridges and firing of same. It is also very accurate, straight out of the box. After discharging appx 200 shots through the rifle (I also purchased 4 sets of shell which comes in packs of five) I found the rifle's performance just short of excellent for a shell-shooter rifle! I'm probably the most surprised person of all re what I've found thus far. The power is extremely strong - I've been using ET-22 Red Gas and have been getting about 520-550+ fps on a full charge in the bolt. NO leaks thus far though I'm prepared to replace some rings should that become necessary (rifle's seals' appear easy to work on). Now, I own all of the Tanaka '98s, including the G33/Mountaineer carbine. The S&T is not Tanaka quality or performance but thus far has pr oven to be a damn good, servicable, replica of the venerable '98 and a very good product for it's MSRP.
As far as whether I got extremely lucky with this gun from S&T, I dunno. But what I got - I like. Very much in fact....

Where do you live? Just so you know, R-22( red gas) is illegal to vent into the atmosphere in the US and the EU. Of course, if you live somewhere else, that shouldn't be an issue. So the S&T is pushing shell-ejection to the limits of possible performance? I imagine the shells are still a hassle.

Yes - I'm aware tha RG is illegal to purchase. I have about five large bottles that I stockpiled from many, many years ago (twenty or more years old) and use sparingly, on occasion, particularly when testing the performance envelope of new gas gun acquisitions. My main propulsive medium is good old HPA which I use for the vast majority of the guns in my collection (I collect Classics and also DG engined guns primarily with the occasional AEG and gas operated guns).
