I am anxious to see if the GnG will narrow the gap of visual authenticity even further and if so would really question the viability of the Marushin GBB which are probably going to become a collectors item. But with the G&G there still won't be the "CHI-CRACK" and the ping that the Marushin makes, and so for realism freaks like me, there will be something missing. Looks is one thing, but firing is another, and with the AEG Garands, the Marushin won't be replaced.

I agree with you shifty, there is nothing like the realism of a gas gun, especially the M1. I kinda get that feeling when I game with my Kar98k. The action is so silky smooth, that I can chamber a new round very quickly, much faster than any springer, and seeing a poof from the muzzle and the cocking piece slam home when I shoot really adds to it too. But adding the remote line and having my special made speed loader/BB stripper clip, makes gaming with it reliable, accurate and competitive. I would most likely do the same to the Marushin M1 before I ever consider gaming with it. For me, consistency is a must, right up there with having mags that actually fit in the original ammo pouches. ( the only reason I don't want a M1 Carbine CDX)

Clearly there is a place for the Marushin GBB but I predict that the marketplace will cause it to go out of production if it hasn't already. I absolutely agree that the gas bolt action rifle is cool and if this Tanaka Knock off proves to be as functionally and visually sound as the Tanaka then I no doubt will be adding one to my armory.

For skirmishers, yes. However, there are still the chairsofters and collectors who will want them. The only way I see the Marushin be forced out of its niche is if a company like Inokatsu made an M1 Garand. (Please, Inokatsu, please!)

I think with the ICS and the (hopefully) soon to be released GnG Garand, sales of the Marushin which were always fairly nominal will cause it to fll out of production (if it hasn't already. For those wanting one I'd say get it now and for those with one get the repair parts you're sure to need now while you can.

Actually, I think the Marushin sold pretty well, as nearly every site that lists them is out of stock.

I managed to win the auction! So it is on its way to me! I decided I will try to skirmish with it, but only after I fine tune the hopup, and add a remote line to an external gas source. And only after I loan out all my other weapons.

Got my rifle! Reaaally beautiful! It is indeed the SI version. The only issue I have with it, is it cycles perfectly, but there seems to be no pressure going into the chamber. The gun will load a clip, and chamber all the rounds, but there is no barrel pressure to fire the rounds. They just roll out of the barrel when tipped out. Any ideas?

Ah, yes, I had this problem once. The rolling out means the hop up is off. Turn it on, and they won't roll. 1. Ensure it is unloaded. 2.Pull up on the trigger guard, and remove trigger assembly. 3.Unscrew that screw behind where the trigger used to be. 4. Tip the action out of the stock. 5.Unscrew charging handle screw, and remove charging handle. 6.Remove the two screws on the right side under the blowback rail on the outside, then flip the gun over and remove the other two screws. 7. Push the clip latch in, and pull the upper receiver up and to the rear. Do not lose the pins that may pop out. 8.On the left side of the receiver, there is a pin that should push into the valve. It is probably going below the valve, thus not putting any gas into the barrel. 9. There is a spring that should push the pin up, it is probably above the pin. Pull out the pin, push down the spring, and reinsert the pin. 10. Push the pin towards the valve to insure it is connecting. 11. Reassemble. You'll definitely want a steel bolt as well. Mine finally broke after 1800 rounds (record?)

There's a guy in Virginia who made mine for $90. Steep, I know, but worth it to have it never break again. Does your Garand fire now? Edit: Will you have it at the Battle of the Bulge event?

Haven't got to fixing it yet, prolly later tonight. And if I loan out all my weapons, I will most likely try to use it! I'll keep my springer carbine handy in case she gets finicky!

Got it working! The rod you were talking about was actually bowed a bit, throwing off the alignment. Got it straightened out and it working great!

Quick question, what is the type of wood used in most marushin m1's furniture? On the box, mine says it's the walnut edition. It does indeed feel and look like walnut, but I was wondering if I got some type of one off product, or if they actually made a limited run with walnut stocks.

The wood is a light ash but for the Walnut edition they did a really nice job of the stain and finish and created a really attractive and convincing Walnut look. I have never faulted the Marushins for their appearance which has always been very good but the Walnut edition is especially good.

I'll ask him, if you send him the broken one he'll probably send you a quote. Edit:http://www.kic.com.tw/shop/product_info.php?info=p5696_MARUSHIN-M1---M2-Carbine----------------------ae-----NO-7--.html&XTCsid=4f8e58ef9229ab0b70495c0329b7329c These guys have some Garand parts too. $2000 NTD is about $80Usd.

Would that guy need an undamaged bolt to replicate in steel? Or can he just make them without the need to send him one?

For a Garand? He already has one, he uses that as a template.

Not to get too far off topic, but I would be interested in an M1/M2 carbine bolt too. All overseas sources are sold out. Maybe we could get a group buy together.
Thanks Mark

You tried KIC? They're still listed as in stock. But, if you want to buy American... I'll ask him, he only takes 3 orders at a time to keep moving and not upset customers. Do you guys have an undamaged bolt to send him?

My ICS finally went toes up. 14,000 rounds easily! Not sure what the issue is but parts are readily available. I will fix it and would buy another with no hesitation. The GnG would be on the replacement short list if the clips were either higher capacity (30 to 40 rounds) or more affordable and readily available. There is no question the GnG is a better looking replica and is on Parr with the Marushin gas blow back for looks.
Curious to get updates on the Marushin GBB owners present ownership/ operational status? It appears the Marushin GBB has gone the way of the Do-Do Bird as far as US retailers are concerned. Lots of talk about machine fabricated replacement/ repair parts but not sure if anyone actually came through.

I was never able to locate someone willing or able produce the replacement bolt for the Marushin M1 Carbine, because I did not have an intact bolt for them to replicate. Not sure how the M1 Garand owners did.
The Marushin M1 Carbine lasted me a year if I remember correctly. It was because pretty much the only time I ever fired it was at the events! I went through slightly over 1,000 8mm bb's. It was extremely accurate and I got plenty of eliminations with it. That was the first airsoft gun I ever owned! From early 2010 to 2011 it was the only airsoft gun I owned. At the time of buying it I was unaware that it was essentially a $400 guaranteed to fail gun. After it broke, I used a custom made M1 Garand AEG from 2011-2012, and occasionally a kar98k or m1903 that I built. I also modified a m1928 Thompson to a m1928a1, but only used it once. I just recently got back into the hobby after 3-4 years, and the Thompson is the only one I have left lol.
2nd bat: sorry to hear about the ICS, 14,000 rounds is quite a lot. I do hope you'll be able to fix and not need to buy a new one. It really is great that both ICS and G&G ended up coming out with reliable products. I remember doubting a few years ago that they would ever even go into production!

I need first to diagnose what's wrong with the ICS. I see all major components readily available so repair should be pretty straight forward. If I buy another it will be to add to, not replace this gun. 14,000 rounds was fabulous and no complaints on this end. Ironically I just finished altering a bunch of clips and modifying the base plate area. I really don't think this had anything to do with it going toes up but who knows? I was firing it quite a lot while trying out speed loads and unloads with the modified clips.

Mine runs just fine, and I'll take my Marushin over any AEG M1 or conversion any day. Been running mine since 2010 on a regular basis (two games a month, maybe three if my group has an event) and I've only had one part break, and I replaced it with a 6mm nut and a rivet. As far as I am concerned, my M1 has proved it's worth to me, and justifies any repairs I have to do.
