Hey guys, I recently purchased some more U.S. gear that needs maintenance and I wanted to get your opinions. The first question is with the metal canteen I bought how should I clean it out so it is usable again for drinking water. The second question is the leggings I bought came without the laces and I was wondering if there is a place you can buy replacement laces for it or what is a good substitute for them?

For the canteen, this may seem counterintuitive, but just pour in off the shelf bleach, about 1/4 cup with the rest water, and let it sit for a few hours. Then rinse with hot water multiple times to remove any bleach residue. This kills any bacteria, and does a great job of stripping any crud from inside. Once its clean, always store with the cap OFF! That will keep any mildew from building up and keep water vapor out. You may choose to add a bit of lemon juice to the water when you fill it, as my canteens have a metallic taste to them. For legging laces, My favorite site has them for $3 I believe. EmcMilitaria.com
