Kinda interesting movie I came across, for a history nut, "Alatriste". Based on a series of Spanish historical novels about a soldier in the early 17th century. The lead role of Captain Alatriste was played by Viggo "Aragorn" Mortensen. I could only find it in Spanish with English subtitles, so it was a little hard to follow at times, plus it seemed like a large book squeezed into a small movie (the opposite of "The Hobbit"). Costuming and sets were excellent. Anywhoo, for a student of miltiary history the best part was the concluding Battle of Rocroi (1643), which had a short but good recreation of a battle in the "pike and shot" era. Imagine being in the front rank of a pike square, with both hands occupied handling a 12-18 foot long spear. In front of you is a wall of spear points. Behind you are a bunch of guys pushing you forward. Some clips from the movie, including the battle, can be found on Youtube under "Alatriste".
