Now I really don't want to be to cavalier about this since I just finished my own, but if I offered it, would anyone be interesting me making them a 1903a1? I'm just thinking it would help get a bit more diversity out there for the Americans other than the Garands and Thompsons, you know, a sniper for them that isn't just a VSR-10 with a wood stock and a scope.

Depends on the price, but possibly.

I'd be more into a 1903a4 if I had any money...

Scott you did a beautiful job on your rifle and knowing the time and effort it took to make it I have no hesitation in supporting that $600.00 or even $700.00 is a fair selling price. Having said that I suspect you'll find tons of people who want it but few who will be willing to part with that amount of money for a bolt action rifle.
If you do decide to build and sell them I wish you well in the endeavor.

Do you build them with BAR 10s or VSR-10s?

Pretty much. The Vsr is slightly better but a lot more expensive but you can put vsr upgrades into the Bar.

The BAR 10 shoots harder out of the box, is far less money and is fully compatible with any and all Marui VSR upgrade parts. The consistent weak point on all VSR clones tends to be the trigger assembly however so an upgraded trigger housing assembly is worthwhile. There are tons and tons of upgrade tweaks for the BAR 10 and they are inexpensive and easy to install.

Now that I think of it, I used an AGM Vsr11 in my Kar98 and a TSD Bar10 in my Springfield. After just taking a quick look at both of them, the Bar10 is slightly bigger.
As 2nd Bat said, once the trigger assembly is upgraded (steel sears) they both are excellent airsoft rifles

Tanaka released a gas paratrooper version, along with a Springfield M1873.

I think he might be talking about an Arisaka. But there's no airsoft Springfield M1873 I can guarantee it

Given Tanaka prices and IJA Impression prices, I don't think they'll sell too many.

well in theory i could use a 1903 for my ija kit. My IJA kit isn't perfect(boots are 200$+) but for a basic kit it was around 250-300 i would say. Compared to other basic kits it runs about the same. Edit, me with my friends type 99: tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2uoj85k&s=5

The Springfield is a classic example of lots of people saying they want it but few people actually stepping forward to buy. Because actual parts for the Springfield tend to be fairly expensive and short cuts around real parts end up looking pretty bad it's an expensive gun to produce. As you know it's also very time consuming and labor intense. i built and sold 11 of them over the course of eight years and truth be told lost money on most of them. Not a viable business model I am afraid. We had a guy on the site years ago who made and marketed his very aggressively and apparently burned a lot of people I know that was never his intent but sadly that was the way it all turned out. Interestingly he bought the first one I ever did.
The market for bolt action airsoft guns is quite weak I am afraid. Pitty as I think they are very very cool. There remains no good reason whatsoever that AGM or JG or D Boys couldn't knock out really good Springer Kar. 98s, Arisakas, Springfields, Mosin Nagants and SMLEs for under $150.00 and they WOULD sell. As independants doing conversions $600 to $700.00 is where they need to be to make NY sense at all and the market there is very very small.
