It doesn't work well, and can be a bit expensive if you keep losing the shells. But it does look good.

If you lose the shells, which is extremely easy to do, you have to pay for new ones. It can get costly. It has a low range, and is slow (but realistic) to fire.

the inner barrel is two piece, the first half is 6mm and the 2nd half 8mm. Accuracy is abysmal as a result, especially when its' above average length is taken into account.
The bolt is poorly designed, the push to cock mechanism means you cannot work it from the shoulder, it must be done from the hip. Every time you do so, you have to re-aim your rifle, which will cost you time in a firefight. Also, the bolt catch (I think that's what it's called anyways) is laughable, if you pull the bolt back hard/quickly enough (easy to do in a firefight when you are under pressure) it simply slides out. You will waste even more time trying to reinsert the damn thing.
TLDR its a wall-hanger first and foremost, consider the ability to shoot BB's a novelty. If you want to just hold one, and play with the shells, get it. You'd be better off with some 20 dollar springer at any airsoft skirmish.
my two cents after about two years of goofing around with it.

It looks good but you will not survive in an airsoft game with this unless you are extremely good. IF it is for display, then it is fine. If you want to continue your Black panzer uniform/officer impression then an MP 40 or a pistol is more appropriate.

I have one myself, just to mess around with it as a wallhanger. I must say, that is all its worth! I would like to put out there, that I do offer my services to build a much more skirmishable Kar98k. I use the same gun you listed, but I use a VSR-10 springer sniper rifle as the internal power and use the Dboys rifle as the cosmetic exterior. PM me if you are interested, I can send you more details.

No K98 that I know of costs $1000. The Tanaka gas one costs around $600, the G&G is 450, the Marushin (which is a shell ejector but better than that) is 500, and the Tanaka spring one is 780. You can also get many of the guys on this forum to make you a K98 from a BAR/VSR-10.

I actually will be getting one of these soon in a trade and I was wondering how much do you charge to swap out the internals?
