Hi I am interested in hosting a event, I am 14 and I have been holding events for my friends since I was 9 and I've gotten to be pretty good at it. I normally have a total of up to 20 people per game and some times more. I have been wanting to hold a WWII game for some time and I thought I would ask a few questions. 1: what would you like to see different from past events? 2: would you prefer vehicles in play or just men? 3: would you be interested in a "eastwind" type game? 4: do you like trenches and buildings on a battlefield or just a forest/ field? 5: what time of year do you like reenacting? 6: do you like high authenticity events or low authenticity? 7: how many nights will you be willing to camp out? 8: what do you think about me holding a event? Wilhelm

1. I wouldn't know, as this would be my first event. 2.I'd love vehicles, if someone had some. 3. Sure. 4.Yeah, I'd like constructions. 5. Spring or Summer, maybe fall. 6.I like decent authenticity, not Stitch Nazi, but not kids in t-shirts with AKs. 7.1 or 2. 8.I don't know, so... And would you mind me bringing a carload of paratroopers from Michigan?

No that would be awesome! I talked to the land owner and he said we would need a decent amount of people to participate. So if I get enough people to participate I will book time but probably in October.

Also, how big of numbers are we talkin here? Do you believe that you produce an event as big as Op Eastwind for your first event?

No at least 30-40 people. I can bring at least 3 people and travis the land owner has enough german and British uniforms to start a militia. I figured we would have US, Russian and possibly British soldiers there, and of corse germans.

Scott, I just have a few friends now, but I want to make a 101st group. I am stressing authenticity to the point where I am saying no Thompsons, there are too many already. I point my men towards ICS M1s and Marushin CO2 Carbines. Wilhelmmoa, October you say? We may have impressions together by then.

Me and my friends are in Chelsea, which is just a few miles from WWII Airsoft Reenactors of Michigan's playing field.

I've got 3 in so far. I also got a friend from California into WWII Airsoft too, though it'll be hard for him to attend our events lol. I also got a friend from South Carolina obsessing about the King Arms GBB Thompson.

I would recommend October as we said, since many of us will have gas guns.

Shifty, if your friends are new to ww2 airsoft (or airsoft in general) it might be a good idea to go with CYMA/KA Thompsons since they are cheaper and certainly more reliable than Marushin's M1 Carbines. Marushin's are terrible airsoft guns for beginners, trust me, my first airsoft gun was a Marushin lol. The ICS Garand's are a good choice, but a very expensive choice, and a noobie probably wouldn't want to spend $400 on their airsoft rifle. I've been in your shoes, I got a bunch of my friends into ww2 airsoft, and I'm just saying I went SERIOUS stitch nazi on them with their equipment. And now that I'm 16 and I look back a few years, I'm lucky those guys are still my friends, they probably thought I was insane! (I'm not in any way saying you went as overboard as I did!) I wanted them to spend over $500 on their gear lol... luckily they didn't listen to me, and just got the essentials, and later I realized I went too far. In the end by not forcing them to spend a crap load of money, and at first just starting with the basics, I have five friends to go to ww2 reenactments with A Hat/helmet, uniform, belt, and rifle is really all you should really "force" your friends to get in the beginning. Boots are actually pretty expensive and every reenactment I've been to they've let that detail slide for the most part, so I would wait on those (just regular old boots should be fine at first). As I said before, I'm not saying that your going overboard, I just don't want you to make the same mistake I did! Trying to get them to spend a lot of money at first might turn them away from our hobby And in a completely unrelated note, if this thing is in December I probably won't be able to make it because of swim season, also this is just too far away anyways lol. And Scott, my friends and I do 82nd, so if you do end up coming to one of the events around here you won't be the only guy from there

Me and my friends started a falshirmjager airsoft unit once, for 11-14 years of age only. I was the gruppenführer and the commander of this unit(remember I was 11 at the time). We actually had a good unit at one point with 17 kids in it, we had monthly battles and monthly meeting. I tried to get every one to by mp40s,d-boys k98s and a decemt looking uniform. Until I realized that only 4 kids I know where all about authenticity and the rest where just about running around in half ass East German uniforms shooting there AKs and M4s. So I shut the unit down becuase it was no longer a reenactment group but only a time to socialize and brag about the new modern guns that they have. My point is that you want to make sure your friends are serious about this stuff and not in to it to screw it up like what happened to me. Now I play with MOA and blankfire. Anyway I wouldn't consider the falshirmjager games would war 2 except for a few people with good uniforms.
Shifty, would you still be into it if its in winter? We do have loaner guns.
Keep the people coming into the conversation!

Willhelmmoa has a good point, you want to make sure your friends are serious about this stuff. Like I said before though, as long as they have the correct hat or helmet, the uniform, equipment belt, and rifle they should be fine. The key is to get them to buy the most important pieces first and build on that
I'm not sure if you read my last post shifty, but try to have your group get the essentials at first, then gradually build their impression... trying to get your friends to spend a crap load of money when they're noobs is an easy way to scare them away from our hobby!

Czarkowski, my friends are serious, one ridiculously so. He just ordered the US Paratrooper package from At the Front! And my first airsoft gun is a Marushin too, as long as you know what you're doing you can take care of it. I'm gonna tell the other one to get the uniform, weapon, and helmet first.

Jeez, $500 just for that and then if he buys the ICS M1 then he'll be out $900! That's way too much for anyone except for him. Make sure the assure your other friends that they don't have to do that.

Let's see... He's bought an Echo 1 BAR with 3 spare mags, and a lipo, the package, and will buy a KJW M1911. That's over $1200 I think.

When he gets his KJW M1911, I really reccomend getting an aftermarket piston head for it, its a real gas hog with the stock piston head. I could only get 15-17 rounds off out of 25, with the stock one, and with the upgrade head, it easily pops off all 25 with gas to spare!

Yeah, then there's the catch where he still needs to get more stuff for it to be complete. Like the shovel and cover, meat tin and cover, paratrooper rope, a good musette bag(I've found the economy ones aren't too great), and if he's a stitch nazi he'll probably want a different garand belt because it's not the right color, and he'll probably want a holster with that pistol so that's another $50 or $60... Hope his pockets go that deep in the long run
