Calling all men, Axis and Allied alike. I would like to organize a WWII group effort to go to one of the modern pickup games at GZA to help promote our Hobby.
Along with Knights52, I would like to arrive early at the GZA field and set up a WW2 area with Arms, Gear and other period trinkets to gather interest. In addition, flyers can be handed out and information from interested parties can be taken. I'm sure once the fighting starts, we can all band together to kick some modern butt.
Our overall mission here is to promote our hobby and segue into a "crossover" game sometime later in October/November. Knights52 has already spoken to the GZA owner, and he is into such a "crossover" event, and will promote it on his website and facebook page.
The purpose of this thread is to see who is willing and able to help us on this very important NE mission. I would like to do this the first Sunday in October, 10/6. If you can and are willing to help us with this effort, please chime in here and we'll all do our best to coordinate the date and our efforts.
Thanks for all your attention and efforts.
Migs

im in if i can get the money together Don't think the cost is more than $25.00. This is still a GZA weekend pick up game, not a WW2AirSoft event. We will be taking it upon ourselves to display and promote our hobby before they get started. After that, we'll be playing just like everyone else. Our main goal here is to stir up enough interest to entice these players to come to our crossover game and then on to our events. Hope you can make it Nick.

Just throwing this out there. Would Saturday, October 5th be better for most? I think I'd rather try it on Saturday if GZA is getting players for their Saturday games as well. If most here don't care, I'll check it out with Lester to see if Saturday would be just as good as Sunday.
I still want to get maximum potential on the promotion side, but if it's 50/50 now with game attendance, Saturday works better for me. Please just respond here what your preference is and I'll get the ball rolling either way.
Thanks guys,
Migs

I think the Sunday games are still more popular, but I'm up for either, and possibly both.

Spoke with Lester from GZA today. He told me that October 6th would be a good date to promote our hobby as he is having an event there and expects 100+ players. Saturdays would be ok too, but he only has about 20 or so for those games.
So even though Saturdays might be better for some of us, that Sunday the 6th seems to be the best day.
Just an FYI, I've completed 4 slide shows on my laptop from previous events that I plan on displaying for all to see. I am working on a hand out flyer that will provide all interested with complete info as too how to get started, best sites to put your kit together, purchase guns, etc.
Anyone who has any thoughts/ideas to add to this, please feel free to chime in here.
October 6th is a GO!!!

If u guys want I can set up an Italian camp. I have a nembo kit (rsi paratrooper) bersaglieri kit and a black shirt kit I can display with different blank weapons. I know its not a living history but maybe it will help show kids some interest in something other than just allied or German. Any thoughts
Ciao Brandon

I think that sounds great. Just make sure the camp doesn't take up too much space and it's not on the playing field. Right by the entrance to the fire base area is were I intend to set up my area. Let's try to stay close together. I know GZA is expecting a big crowd and we don't want to step on their toes. Looking forward, Migs

Update Reminder Next Sunday (October 6th) is the date for our promo game at GZA. While this is really a GZA Event and I won't be running it. I do have permission from Lester (owner) to set up an area to help promote our hobby. Their event is called "The Hornet's Nest" and they expect over 100 players for it. I plan on being there by 08:30/09:00 the latest. All helping out should do the same. What I would like to know now is an exact tally of all that plan on attending. Even if you previously said you were coming, please chime in and give me an update on this. After their event starts, I believe it will be OK for us to join their game. Looking forward to seeing everyone there next weekend. Cheers, Migs

Also attending! I will try to bring at least 2 more, but I should know fore sure soon. Migs! Don't forget to bring your radio! I will try to have my BC1000 done by then so we can have some in-game comms going. I also have plenty of US gear if anyone wants to borrow, or have a friend wear.

Also, would it be possible to arrive Sat afternoon and camp out for the night on the field? It would do away with a very early drive.

Also, I don;t think it would be a problem to camp out. I'll call you during the week and go over the details. I'll give you the code to the gate, etc. Talk to you in a few. Migs

Does anybody know the requirements for eye protection at a GZA game? I think those under 21 need a full face mask but correct me if I'm wrong. (From what I've heard about "Sunday airsofters", I think I'll bring one anyways )

Right now, if you're under 18 you need a full face mask, otherwise full seal goggles. I might have an extra mask or two if anyone needs one. Jolly Green, the guy who actually runs the games, usually has a few to lend out as well
