Don't use the original liner in the field. But stripping off the post war paint and restoring it is just fine

Thought I would have some fun and post the "demo" for the rental kits I am working on. I am going for a 1944 volksgrenadier look. From the top down I have a home-made m43 cap (still needs buttons and insignia), a Swedish tunic conversion with grey button down shirt, belt and pouches, bar98 rifle, surplus Danish wool pants (still need to iron out the creases), my old pair of cheap repro gaiters, and plain leather work boots. I also need a shave. For a winter look I would add white snow camo pants or smock.

That doesn't look too bad for rental gear

I think it shows a great deal of creativity and is wonderful for your intended purpose. Lets face it, this effort can make possible an additional group of four or five team members attending an event that otherwise wouldn't who will not be a visual distraction to other player short of the UBER elitist. I suspect once hooking them on the experience a good portion of these new players will be motivated to get their own stuff and will really help to grow the hobby. impressive effort Aldrich.

Great impression! Have you ever thought about getting a tropical SS impression? I have always liked the look of them and I think it would go great with all your tropical gear.

Thanks! not really stitch nazi cause of Post War Mess Kit (marked P.Pr.Bln.), Swedish Canteen, and East German Jackboots. but Thanks! My goal is to look the part with consumer friendly prices, so that ment cutting so corners with some post war things.
I mostly use HBT cause im in GA, and here Wools are unbearable, when it is hot it is humid hot, and the breatheability of Wools goes right down the drain.
And I didnt know of Tropical SS, I really just used tropical gear to help sell the Late War Look

My very basic 1st time 1943-45 winter outfit. -valken mi-9 mask ~80 light coat (enough room to be called a smock) padded gloves ~15 hikishop hbt pants ~30 rubber snow boots scarf ~10 stg 44~160 2 extra mags ~40
Also sanded, varnished and drilled into the stock. Idk what wood the chineese have because the wood WILL NOT except varnish at all, plus on some spots it'll except it, but it looks like polka dots. It now has room for a mosfet/acctive braking unit with a 7.2 or 8.4volt battery.
Next step would be to get my y-stap&belt and my pioneer assault pack

I'd say the next step would be to get a tunic. The first things you should always always get are the tunic and trousers, then correct footwear.
What state are you located in? Also..full seal goggles look better than a face mask with WWII uniforms. I'd suggest wearing goggles or safety glasses. I'm looking forward to see what impression you can put together!

I live in Wisconsin and I have to wear a full face mask because I'm only 16. Also I'm waiting till I'm 18 to buy the tunic since I'm still growing.

I bought my first tunic when I was 15. I would highly suggest buying a tunic..once you've grown out of it, trade it for a bigger tunic. But honestly, you aren't gonna grow out of a tunic too much at this age, if anything grows a lot it'll be your legs. What's your chest size?

Full seal goggles in conjunction with a tan mesh lower face mask, while hideous, look far better than a paintball mask. I'd advise using those, if they're allowed.

You could also get a smock, which will allow you to grow into it. Be careful with some of the cheaper ones as some repros I have seen lately seem like they used the ink from a neon green highlighter. If you have any questions just let me know.

I don't know if its the same way with German gear but for US uniforms usually you would want a tunic to fit a size bigger on you.

My chest is 30 inches, 31 inches with air in me. I was planning on getting a smock, but couldn't side the best one. I was either gonna get sumpfmuster 43, oak leaf (Can anyone explain the difference between type a and type b?), blurred edge, plane tree, or any of the italians.

Are you doing SS or heer?

SS or Heer, that's the difference. And for german, a tunic should be very tight and short, super well fitted- not big and baggy.

For a great, to the point guide on SS camo in WWII, check out this link: www.atthefront.com/HR/g/uni_sscamo.htmlAs for smocks go, you would not want sumphmuster 43 for SS, as that was an general army pattern. If you are 16 and going for a 12th SS look, your best bet would be to get either blurred edge smock, a dot44 pattern tunic and pants, a plane tree smock, or an Italian camo coverall. While I have seen oak leaf in the pictures, these other patterns seem much more common. Pictures:

Oak is hoak, get planetree, palm, or rauch (blurred edge) and be cool.

What's wrong with oak?

Everyone uses it, its the most popular camo for German ss reenactors even though it really wasn't that popular in wwII

Actually a tunic is supposed to e a little roomy in the chest. Not super baggy..but slightly roomy. Have you hit your growth spurt yet? I'm assuming not because your chest is 30 inches

30 inch chest? That seems a bit too small TBH.

Out of all of the ss camo's blurred edge and palm seam to be the most effective (excluding pea dot). My legs have had the growth spurt, but my torso hasn't. Males generally don't have their torso growth spurt until 18-21. I'm the lengthy slim build.

Remeasured yourself. 30 inches is very small. I'd assume you were at least 35-36 inches

Most skinny people I know around age 16 are about a 36 inch chest haha.
