Just so you guys know I actually own something, I'll throw in a picture of my pile as well. What you see: splinter jump smock, bandolier, Luftwaffe tunic, DAK tunic, DAK helmet, Fallschirmjager helmet, MP40 repro pouches as well as vintage (brown leather) MP40 pouches, Maruzen P38, HFC Mauser, S-3 MP40 w/repro sling, repro grenade, P38 holster w/blank firing P38 inside, DAK soft cap. What you don't see: trousers, boots, Marui P38, HFC Mauser rifle with scope, K98 pouches, RAD officer's knife, Czech "look alike" PPK style 32 cal pistol, DAK belt, Wermacht belt, bread bag, tan helmet cover, 2 canteens and and a gas mask tin. I didn't have the room to drag it all out. Some of this stuff is NOT needed (I am thinking of selling all the DAK stuff).

More stuff I dug out while thinking about this "I'm workin on it" thread. What you see: DAK belt, Wermacht belt, Czech 7.65 pistol with extra mag, Marui P38 springer, HFC gas "PPK" pistol, oak and tan/water pants, splinter, Austrian and DAK caps, RAD knife repro, post war suspenders and a mask I camouflaged. I am only doing a Fallshirmjager Gran Sasso impression (see my profile pic), so most of these items will never be used. BTW, that little Czech pistol has operated flawlessly with over 300 rounds fired from it.

DOOM :
We are having AZ's first N. Africa reenactment (not airsoft) in probably the last 10-15 years on Jan. 20 in Wickenburg. It wont be anything big, probably 20 people total (not many have desert impressions yet). From the looks of it you're pretty set on the uniform items. I know I spoke to you before about it, but PM me if you're interested.
Not much WWII airsoft going on in AZ, we should perhaps work on that a little and start something....some of the 'blank' reenactors own various WWII airsoft weapons for parades, fun, display, etc. ....I'm sure we could get some more people involved. Again, PM me, we should set something up.
Cheers Thomas

Late war FJ impression, same as Drew: Theres a couple items missing from there, jacket, pants, boots, mess tin, and M40 jacket. Still need D rings, as I have switched over to a bandoleer for my M14.

seems pretty fitting for the stitch-nazi thread. although its not really a comment on your impression, i believe goatee's werent typical in the 1940's. From what i remember soldiors were meant to be cleanshaven. but as always there were exceptions

My brother was over and I finally almost finished my impression (other than Gauntlets) He is the only one that would put up with takin' pics so there was no time to shave or get a haircut! LOL It was a quick last minute deal! I was really looking forward to seeing it in pics, I knew I would catch hell for the extra facial hair! LOL

Very nice man. Gotta lose the goatee ;) Plenty of pictures of battle weary FJ with non clean shaven rough looks but never seen a goatee. Course I have a mohawk and you don't see that back then too much either. I really like the Tan&Water smock is that a BarryL out of HK or did you get that from Zak? looks much better than the BGS T&W I have but I payed like 20.00 for that one. Nice to see the gas mask bag alot of people leave it out because it cost a pretty penny. What boots did you go with? Repro FJ boots are right at 200.00 lots of us use Russian, Belgian, or Canadian Jump boots as they are pretty close. Looking good overall. I for one welcome the new influx of FJ nice not to feel so lonely!

I'm impressed, very good impression. As for boots, if you want go to civilwarboots.com . They carry FJ boots. So does 1944militaria.com (side lace). Just make sure you take off the facial hair before an event. I once say a guy do 502nd with a full blown civil war beard....that ticked me off. Fortunately even if you didn't shave it it isn't that large, hence not being a big deal. Cheers Thomas

Gerry- Looks great- very impressive kit! And his posts are in exactly the right thread- this way when he does get his grooming squared away and steps out doors for some nice shots he will then be able to show off his efforts in the Stitch Knot-See thread. And Gerry, one more thing- Whatever you do, make sure that damn door stays locked and for godsakes man, DONT BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY!!! -G

I'm going to take offence to that, We(FJ) dont have the numbers even close to the 506th, there are only a handful of us on this board. Gerry nice impression, I'm getting my stuff on right now to post my impressions. Heres my impression for the Long Winter. Front Back

Thanks Guys! I appreciate your compliments, we will definately work on the facial hair and the tatoo then we will take some pics in a 200 year old fort on the east river maybe it will resemble the abbey in Monte Cassino. Nice Impression Drew Roundup: Fleigerbluse, Springerhosen, Tan & water jumpsmock, overseas cap, M43 cap, Tan & water helmet cover and steel M38 helmet were all from Spearhead Militaria. Splinter Jumpsmock from opsgear.com for $60 before they realized the quality of the product they had and jacked the price up over $100 Y straps, belt and Buckle, MP-40 ammo pouches and inert potato mashers are from International Military antiques P-38 holster, Mess kit, Bayonet, MP-40 neck strap and helmet net from Military tour Luftwaffe breadbag from Capt. Zak's Gasmask bag from Landser outfitters that is an original canteen I purchased from a local Militaria show Those are US jump boots with the toe caps cut off, the holes filled, dyed and polished they look OK and cost me $40 to make! Top MP-40 Pen cap cigarette! Scarf/neck wrap from moms closet Without smock On deck for me is: *Shave *Haircut *lose 25 pounds (get rid of the winter fat LOL!) *Jump Gauntlets *Knee pads- feldgrau or splinter? *P-38 airsoft pistol...... Suggestions please! *FG-42 Bandoleer- Now.. Should I get this in a splinter pattern or a feldgrau pattern which is more correct for a mid war impression say monte or sicily? *Replica FG-42 or airsoft if it doesn't cost a fortune! *Would a entrenching tool be a good addition to this kit? many photos that I see of FJ the entrenching tool is absent *Tunic hooks *Textured Normandy camo paint job on the helmet with some Chicken wire *cuff title, Rank insignia, Paratroop badge and breast eagle for the fliegerbluse *Break everything in and get it dirty! Thanks again fella's I'll be looking forward to your feedback!

I dont think feldgrau would be appropriate for anything involving the FJ. The knee pads were ditched right after landing, so no point in getting those (unless you really want to). Good luck on finding an FG42 bandoleer in splinter for a reasonable price. Spearhead only does feldblau, feldgrau, and tan - and feldblau or tan would be the most appropriate I imagine.

I would go with Tan or Fieldblau on the bandoleer. As far as a 42 that doesn't cost an arm? there is always hope in the chinese right. The knee pads may have been ditched right after landing but I am getting a set because it is practical and my knees are beat up enough already and it may help
