I do think it's a good idea for players in the area to keep us updated with the field conditions. This way we can all make the necessary adjustments mostly regarding footwear. Winter shoe packs were available, but scarce to the front line troops. But we of course can be the lucky few who did get them. At least we won't be barefoot like Joe Toye.

The weather out here has been mostly snowy and cold, not much ice at all, but we all know how quickly that can change! Besides using more modern waterproof footwear, which i really don't mind if you do! I would highly suggest putting a layer of thick plastic between your socks and boots! While shoveling snow off of tractors at work, my boots got soaking wet, right through my socks and my feet froze! I ended up going and buying new socks, and before putting my boots back on, I put grocery bags over my socked feet. I would highly reccomend you use some thicker plastic that is less likely to tear or develope holes, but they created a barrier for water, keeping my feet dry and warm. I would highly suggest to anyone attending, to do this, period footwear or not.

So there'll be stretchers, but will there be "medics" lugging "casualties" back to an aid station?

Brownien stated earlier that he will be filling pople in on the precise rule sets at the event. There will be factors like field conditions, actual turnout and weather that may require adjustments over what the current plans are and by not posting things that may need to be changed he can minimize confusion.
One of the US Helmets I'll be shipping will be a medic helmet. I suppose I could do up one of the German ones as well?

So there'll be stretchers, but will there be "medics" lugging "casualties" back to an aid station? The common medic/re-spawn rules we've used at past events is as follows: Player is hit: Calls hit (acting is encouraged). Player lies on the ground and calls for a medic, if medic gets to him, medic can patch him up and player returns to action after a designated time (usually 2/3 minutes). If no medic arrives, player is bled out after designated time (usually 5 minutes). Once that occurs, player must report to either a forward aide station (hence the stretchers) or report to his CP (which also serves as B.A.S. (Battalion aide station). When a player is hit a second time (after he has been patched up by a medic or bled out), he HAS TO REPORT TO either the forward aide station or B.A.S. depending on the rules of the game. Same rule applies after each hit. Of course these rules are up to event producer. A lot will also depend on game play scenarios. The main reason why we've used these designated forward aide station markers (flags or stretchers) is so players don't have to trek too far to their CP's to re-spawn like in most modern games. When players know they don't have to travel too far to the rear to re-enter game play, it cuts down on the "not calling ones hits" situations. What this also does, is it makes each sides stretchers a precious commodity. If the stretcher is captured, all hit players now have to travel further to re-spawn. It also requires players to advance the stretchers as they advance. If no players volunteer to be medics, we've used the buddy rule, where another player can medic the hit players where he has to stay touching the player for a designated time period and then that player can re-enter game. We usually have a rule in place where hit players can not fire a weapon while they are bleeding out or are being aided. But as I've said, I'm sure Browien will have this all covered. Migs

For guys borrowing uniforms bring a belt to hold up the trousers which are no doubt going to be too big and bring some heavy rubber bands to double the trouser legs over. (Blouse the pants). In this way pant length won't be an issue. For socks and clothing for under your uniform a modern wicking T-shirt is wonderful and WOOL not cotton for the next layers is the way to go. If you requested small, I am sending medium and if you asked for medium I am sending large. The X Large is getting 2XLarge. This is so you can layer warm modern clothing underneath.
With all these warm layers, players are going to have to be double mindful of hits. You are far more likely to HEAR the hit then feel it. Play accordingly. When in doubt assume the incoming rounds got ya!

The boxes are packed and will go out tomorrow. Brownien should get them in 10 days or so. If someone who you stated here or told Brownian is coming, is in fact NOT coming, that's fine, but let Brownien know so he can start seeking out players for the otherwise uneeded uniforms, weapons and web gear. i put a few extra set ups in the boxes with the hope they will be needed. (Medium and Large sizes). All a guy will need is footwear.
The next three weeks will decide who the WW2 AIRSOFTERS are and who the WW2 CHAIRSOFTERS are. No excuses on this one. Make it happen.

Extra loaner gear and weapons are enroute. There are a couple decent German impression in there but if that's your thing, to complete the look wear some appropriate looking grey wool slacks and find perhaps a nice thick black belt. Something workable can literally be found at a thrift shop for under $10.00. While you're in there look at shoes / boots and odds are something pretty reasonable is probably on the shelves in your size. What I shipped are helmets, smocks and ponchos. For US a number of complete set ups were sent in response to requests.

Does anyone have WWII gloves I can borrow? I don't mind wearing modern knit gloves but if anyone's got period ones that'd be nice.

Being shifty brought it up, GLOVES! Any warm gloves will do! Modern or period. I would actually prefer everyone bring some modern waterproof low profile gloves, even if just as backups! Bring many extra gloves too! Carry some small ones in your pockets, another pair in your haversack, and wear another! I really don't want anyone getting frostbite just for authenticity's sake!
By the way, I say low profile gloves because some of the bulkier gloves may hinder your ability to reload mags or pull the trigger much more than a slimmer profile glove

The British played a very insignificant role in the Battle although to hear Monty tell it he steppec in to save us. Eisenhower got wind of his boastfullness and some very unkind comments about the conduct of the war and it nearly cost Monty his job. Eisenhower was fully prepared to resign if he wasn't allowed to sack him. Fortunately the british field marshall got wind of it and wrote a convincingly contrite apology. With all that said it would be wonderful to have the British represented.
I left Seattle at 6:00 AM this morning and just arrived (1:30 AM) in New Jersey to begin my trek that will eventually get me to Perth for the event. i am certainly hopeful the severity of the current weather will ease up a bit as it's so cold here I saw a politician with his hands in his OWN pockets. I managed to cram a few more items in my luggage along with my own stuff but essentially everything from me is on the way to Brownian. I would have liked to send more but GI equipment is heavier then I had anticipated and the cost of shipping is just too prohibitive. My original box would have been $300.00 EACH way, I did send more then what was concretely requested.

But I really hope too that we will get a nice stretch of clear bright weather at least in the upper 20's for the event. When it gets warmer than that it usually means weather is coming our way. That would suck for driving.

I checked the weather in Perth for that weekend (lol, not much to do when the windchill is -30) and it'll be in the low 20s. Sounds like gas guns with Mapp Pro gas will function.

Indeed it is cold cold cold here in New Jersey. i head down to Philadelphia this weekend and have an event in Deleware followed by several in Conneticutt. This coming week. I am counting on these driving conditions easing up a bit! Especially before i head North to Mass, NH and Vermont.

Oh and will there be power outlets? I'm designing a radio looking box to put my phone in and if I can plug my charger in, I can run music through it

Brownien had stated that he would have a generator there but obviously very limited outlets. I am somewhat counting on the weather easing up in the next few weeks although this is pretty spot on for the Ardennes in 1944.

Hopefully mother nature is getting all this severe weather out of her system in anticipation of this event. A nice deep blanket of snow but clear roads would be ideal and temperatures above the teens would be great.

incredibly good given the past several weeks. i will be driving a long way from "Mass a choose it" following a long day of work and was worried about driving conditions and my ability to get there. This is very very encouraging. Gerry, the plan is to arrive at your in laws as early in the evening as I am able. (But it will be late). Your invite in that regard is wonderful.

You have any idea what time on Friday night you will arrive? Jer
