I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a US navy Impression.
Thanks!
Nick

What specific job in the navy do you want to portray? Lst driver, Navy pilot, or maybe something like a crewman on a destroyer, cruiser or carrier? You could also portray something even more in the line of fire like a navy corpman, embedded with a platoon of marines.

I saw a picture of a sailor with a Reising and a dog on a beach, I'm not sure if that was just sort of a photo-shoot type thing or not. Anyway, I sort of wanted to aim for something like that. I already have a Thompson M1A1, and although it was nearly seldom used by the navy (I think) it will have to do for now.

I remember that picture from when I was trying to build an airsoft Reising. I think that he's in the Coast Guard actually

Would an impression like that be relatively accurate to the navy though?

M50 Reisings were commonly found in ships armories and shore stations where they were issued to guards. Obviously a staged shot. Notice how he's got the sling up tight under the mag? Now try changing the mag. Also, by the grooves in the side of the mag it appears that was a 12 round, single stack mag used for training. But other than nitpicking details, I think that pic is fairly representative of Navy/Coast Guard on beach patrol duty. During the war the Coast Guard was merged in with the Navy. I've got to dig out my Reising project one of these days and rethink it.

Alright thanks for the help! I agree, a Reising would be really cool. I might try to obtain a Springfield at some point, but the Thompson will do for now. I think I'll try for an impression based off of that picture, even though it is Coast Guard.
Thanks!

I've got to dig out my Reising project one of these days and rethink it. That makes two of us, I've been working on mine for three years now and although I've been to Home Depot plenty of times I never ended up buying the PVC I was going to use for the receiver. I pretty much just have the barrel and magazine down. I made my own stock but it ended up being too thin so I think I'm just going to buy a plastic one. Anyways, I always thought a Navy impression would be pretty cool but at least where I live, I don't think there's ever been any Pacific events. Navy corpsmen would be in USMC squads (medics)

I've done some more research and plan on a Beach Patrol impression, even though they didn't do much (if any) fighting, as far as I understand. Where I live in Massachusetts, I am yet to find any WW2 themed games within 2 hours, so this is just gonna have to be something I whip out for the local airsoft field once a month.

There's been a few in upstate New York, and there's another one planned for next month. I live in southern Connecticut and it's a 3 and a half hour drive at least for me. Unfortunately that's too far for me, but hopefully sometime in the future there may be one further south

I actually just saw that a (relatively) local field holds ww2 themed games once in a while. Would showing up as a sailor to a European event be frowned upon?

I don't think anyone would have a problem with it. Btw where in MA do the ww2 themed games occur? This could be another great place to promote!

At RPC in New Hampshire. I just looked at their website and they had a few WW2 themed games scheduled.

What type of navy impression do you want to do? For enlisted there are two uniforms you could use in combat. The HBTS's would be more accurate, and practical. You could also wear the dungarees. We only wear dungarees on the Batfish for Living History.
